Would You Buy Another BX?

Another member with a 2002 BX2200. Great machine!

Only the usual issues like hoses and seals. Got a lick over 2,400 hours on it.

I've decided not to trade it up when I get my next machine. It is far too useful of a machine.

Been looking at getting a LX4020HSDC and do a TLB setup. Neat thing about that machine is I can optionally get the MMM so I can keep the hoe attached when mowing. But I'm probably going to go with a RFM only because I want to stay clear of the trees being it cab tractor, and to get under my pine trees without using a hand mower.

Biggest reason I want a cab tractor is heat, A/C, and protection from the elements (sun, rain, snow, and bugs).

Just I can't get over the price for the build. But I'm looking at it as a "buy once, cry once" moment.

My 2003 has been great in all regards. When we just had 3.5 acres (1 acre yard and the rest pasture) it was the perfect size. Later, when we added another 3.5 acres, I bought a L3800 and kept the BX as our lawn mower. I've always thought about trading it for a zero turn, but it's been so good as a lawnmower I haven't wanted to part with it. Plus, it has other capabilities I can always use. On occasion I've used it to run a PTO roller pump for irrigating parts of the field, or attach the little FEL for cleaning horse stalls or garden/yard work.

The L3800 has been OK, but I wish I went with the L4400. The trade-off is I bought the L3800 with a backhoe, which has been handy over the years. But the FEL capacity (both bucket volume and lift capacity) has always been a disappointment. Just like the BX, it just takes a little longer for bigger tasks.

That is why I'm looking at a 40+ HP additional tractor and keep the BX for light stuff along with tight space use, and with precision loader work.

Best thing of all, I can drive my BX in the basement of my house. Really helps with unloading water softener salt off the back of my truck and moving items around down there.

Good thinking, keeping the BX; I wish I still had my old subcompact, along with my larger Kioti, as they're just so useful.

I just wish it was more often than every 18 months or so that the BX25D is the right tool for the job.

As it is I do use it more often, because I'm sure it's better for it, but the extra time needed to complete even a minor task tends to be irritating.

I have a 2003 Bx-2200 that is all I really need. Its been great and has really low hours. (522) I have only but put about 200 on it since I got it. I have had to replace some cylinder seals, well all of them and I need to replace the pivot pin seals but no big deal. Great little tractor that I got a great deal on about 14 years ago.
