Well 2026 is here and the sun is shining, with about an inch of nuisance snow on the driveway.
If I don't move it around it will make ice, if I go out to mess with it takes almost as much time as 6-8 inches does :(

21 cold degrees out, windy, blue sky, ground covered in snow
no outdoor plans but even to go fill the birdfeeders really have to bundle up.
sure looks pretty out
now I wish I had pulled the outside decorations before they got snowed on
with the wind, should be clear later

I turned off the front inflatables last night, nice not to hear that whirring noise.
and now they are all covered in frozen snow.

need to start on my office project but birds come first
they have been cleaning every seed out of every feeder daily

Happy New Year! 40F going to 73 but tomorrow the south winds will bring closer to 83F highs.

Fixing some coffee. Going to rendezvous with my sister in Temple Texas to get my mom. Sis had her for a week. Need to leave around 9 - 9:15

Had a small party at our church last night. Did not drink a drop. Not bragging, just didn't have the urge. Good banter with my church brethren. We left around 10pm and came home. Wife put on "BraveHeart" movie. Not sure how late she and the son stayed up watching it.

Need to knock down a few trees and tow them to a burn pile. But I won't burn yet, even though the county has lifted the burn ban. Only got .2" of rain in December, but have had a bunch of foggy mornings which has helped the winter weeds start sprouting.

Congrats on your miles Mostly and Billy. Both are accomplishments and be thankful you can still get around like y'all do.

Looking on FB marketplace for a "newsed" or "nused" to us tennis racket. Son cracked his, not gripping it tightly enough trying to do an overhead slam from the baseline. I was mad.

Scotty, down here, whenever you had the natural gas people turn your gas on, they would come in and light all pilot lights and inspect that they operated properly. I know your's is propane, so different situation.

Good Morning
22°, windy and sunny. I think this might be the high temp for today.

Yesterday started with breakfast with the professor, wife, son and grandson joined us as well.

Our trash and recycling wasn’t been picked up for two weeks due to holidays and weather. The toters are at the street waiting for a truck. When we came home from breakfast the recycling was blown over and debris was all down the drainage swale. I picked it all up, breaking through the ice into the knee deep ice water. That was no fun.

Spent some time with the 3D printer and cleaned up some. I noticed that my son put a dash cam in his car with a rear camera as well, and did a sloppy job of running the cables. So i drew up and printed some clips to slide under the trim to corral the wires.

New TIG welder arrived and is in place. The old one already has a new home. My buddy in the overhead door business Is going to install a new opener to replace one of the 40 year old ones. It is always a fight to get him to take any money, and he mentioned that he was thinking about getting a TIG welder, so he got one.

Son and DIL came over for dinner, dry rubbed and grilled pork chops. We had two bone in from a farm to table market and two boneless from my neighbor. They were both extremely tasty and we all agreed that we could not tell a difference between them.

I hope to check out the new welder today, already plowed the small accumulation from last nights snow.
I couldn’t help but notice that the recycling is in the ditch again….arghh…..

Morning all, 26 going to 27 and about 1/4" of fresh snow this morning, windy, sunny.
Had fun at friends last night, son and GF came over and then they went back to our house to have their party.
Got home about 1:30 and the kids (not sure how many but still a few cars and trucks parked in the driveway) had already cleared out to the apartment, where they are still sleeping.
Not too messy in the house, so happy about that.

If anyone is interested in old textile mills and the former site of Sprague Electronics:
In North Adams MA, it was still the Electronics Manufacturer when I was a kid.
We got to go through the place after it had closed, it still have much of the textile mill portion there and in workable condition. The place is huge and is now an art museum.

Paul , a new welder, lots of dials very nice.

Happy New Year's everyone, off to brunch in a bit if we can get the kids up.

Be well,

Woke up to a layer of that dry powdery stuff we so rarely get, so much nicer than the usual mashed-potato consistency of heavy or icy stuff. It was so light and powdery that I did the driveway and walks with a leaf blower, instead of hooking up the plow. :ROFLMAO:

Extended family is coming today for a belated Christmas celebration, we had to postpone due to a sick kid in the house last week. After they're gone, I'm looking forward to getting some of the indoor decorations down. My wife likes me to leave the outside lights up well-into January, so I'll be looking for a warm weekend later in the month to do those.

good morning, 21 to start with and dusting of snow covering allover

Swept behind the house being the shady side and to make it safer for wife to get out to the car. Hope the sun will take care of the driveway.

Scallops for dinner was delicious not cheep I might say but once in while very nice

The TIG welder should round out your stable of high quality welders. Set up of my new welder and cutter is still to come and may have questions for you.
50 amp outlet, extension of airline, set up cutting table, get a larger gas shielding bottle, set up more overhead lighting, rig up an exhaust fan system for welding fumes are some of the items

Happy New Year

64°F and .09 inches rain

Got the pulley replaced on Sophie’s BX mower deck. Breaking the nut loose was biggest challenge. Then used it to get a bit of mowing while the kids were off to Waimea.

Watched New Year celebrations while playing Mexican trai. Got my butt whooped.

BIL and SO coming over for ham dinner.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great tractor day

20F with bright sunshine @ 14:30, that's probably about it as far as a high temp is concerned.

Got around another inch of so of snow overnight, total up to around 3" on the ground. Continuing to avoid plowing the driveway ... ;)

Plans kind of went off the rails yesterday, starting with the trip to the hardware for the black pipe fittings.

Headed out after The Woman got back only to find after arriving @ Ace that they had closed 18 minutes earlier (16:00) ... 🤬

So I hot-footed it over to the Depot where I picked up the 3 fittings and left around $5 lighter in my wallet.

Primary roads were in pretty good shape, but the secondary ones were pretty sloppy.

Headed downstairs after I got back and pulled the fiberglass insulation where the electric and gas enter the house. Could feel the cold air coming even before I had it all out ... once it was removed the cold air was just pouring in.

Found the header joist was split horizontally across the entire length in that cavity, in line with the 2" gas pipe. About a 1/4" wide crack.

Got it all vacuumed out and cleaned up and started foaming it with Great Stuff, using an older can which was way past its "Best By" date (mid-2010's ... lol)

That didn't last long so I broke out a little fresher can (best by 2022 ... ;)) which worked a lot better and got it all foamed up and sealed, with no more air outside coming in.

Woman had come down and was assisting, then did some additional cleaning.

I got the debris canister on the vacuum emptied after that and the furnace filter changed.

Made an effort to find the 3/4" copper pipe straps without success, Woman located them later. Had I been thinking of it, I would have grabbed a pack of those over at the Depot.

Then broke for dinner and cleaned up some leftovers.

Watched 3 Season 1 episodes of Landman that were available on Prime after that before they went away.

After that I went back down and proceeded to start polishing some old (previously used) 3/4" copper pipe that I will use for the full temp hot water feed to the clothes and dish washers, by wet sanding them with some vinegar and a small piece of 320 grit sandpaper:

The before and after:

IMG_4137 copy.jpg

Why ?

No real good reason ... other than I like pretty things ... and found the process to be somewhat therapeutic ... lol ...

Knocked off very early this morning.

And as predicted by The Woman, I did absolutely nothing with the black pipe fittings I ran out and picked up ... lol.

On the agenda for today:

Most of what was on the list yesterday that didn't get done (meds, pay phone bill, fill hopper feeder, etc.)

Plus had problems with the last several of the last polyiso panels with the adhesive not adhering ... despite wiping them down with a wet rag before attempting to put them up. So those will have to be addressed.

Beyond that not really sure ... but I'm sure there won't be any trouble finding additional things to do.

From the sound (and smell) of things, Woman is making the sausage dumplings and 'kraut ... (y)

This coming Monday temps are supposed to warm up to around 40F ... after 5 or so days of being well below freezing.

Seems like that would probably be a good time to move that drywall out of the van and into the basement.

Hope everyone is having a Happy New Year !
