I never thought I do it - but I have traded the Taco Wagon( Ram 2500 Power Wagon ) in. Got a 2026 Ram - one ton - diesel - Big Horn - long bed. The Big Horn - BH for short - has a MUCH MORE complicated digital electronic system.

The Power Wagon developed technical problems that they are not able to fix. I still find this difficult to believe. But this condition was not improving.

I'd like to tell you that I know the exact mileage - but I'm still trying to figure out the dashboard controls. Today I go in to Lithia Chrysler( Spokane, WA ) for a learning session on all these controls.

Because I fell and "damaged" my back - this very tall pickup is most difficult for me to get into. I have ordered a set of side steps and will have them installed upon arrival. Meantime - a heavy duty plastic box is doing fairly well.

Surprised to hear the Power Wagon is gone, but it's understandable if they couldn't fix the thing.

I guess I’m not up on my slang, and maybe I’m going to sound like an idiot here, but I always thought “Taco Wagon” meant “Tacoma”, as in Toyota.

I loved that Power Wagon and got an honest 16 mpg with it. I'll be interested to see how the dealer plans to sell it.

Every time I drove it - one or two more of the electronic system showed a fault. I became concerned of a really serious fault or failure while driving.

The term "Taco Wagon" comes from it being built in Saltilo, Mexico. Fellow TBN member cautioned to look for taco wrappers under the front seats on my very first post.

50/50 at highway speed and city with a 2020 F350 SD long box 6.7L 10 speed: average = 14mpg (driving for mileage). It drops to 13.5 on each trip when I pull off the highway on to our 2 miles of steep and rough logging trail to get home. But the one ton could care less about the boulders sticking up or the ruts. 8" or more of snow is a bit of a problem too, even going back through the tracks I made on the way down.

Watched a YouTube video a few days ago - owner of a newer Ram/Cummins 3500 doing a review of the truck after 35,000 miles of ownership. Guy talked about how much he loved this truck. Then he mentioned the problems he'd had with it - and panned the camera over his dash display. All kinds of error lights were on but since the truck's performance didn't seem affected he just kept driving it. He said the dealer would clear the error codes but they just kept coming back. Then he mentioned that he'd had to replace the rear end 3 times in that 35,000 miles. All done under warranty, of course.

If that were my truck I'd be looking at a lemon-law buy-back!

Stories like this is why both of my trucks are older models - before all the electronic BS. They may not have the power of the new trucks. They may not be as comfortable. But I can be sure they'll get me there - and back home again. And if ever there is a problem most likely I can diagnose it myself and repair it myself - no laptop and specialized diagnostic software needed.

Consumer Reports owners surveys report that electronics on the new vehicles are by far the #1 problem area. That goes for all makes of vehicles, not just Ram.

There are people that trade up. Then there are folk who hold. It really does matter how you rig has performed.

I am a QA/QC engineer. A rancher. Some rigs suck, some not. Consistency is a big average but if yours works then KEEP IT and then GO, MAN, GO. And run the wheels off it because you may never get another like it. Then fix it, regardless. The other option is a money pit.

I wish I had my old '96 Dodge 12valve 1t dually - less the transmission. Can't break it. But the transmission, even new, was insufficient on a hill. I could slip overdrive at will. What a waste.

And that won't happen unless you neglect it. The smoothest ride up the trail is with 1.5 yards of river rock. The pickup doesn't care.

But I hate wheel hop when the snow gets too deep. That's just mean.
