I think snap limits on what it covers. Firewood probably is not on the list.
So no fiber in their diet?

On a more serious note what do you call West Central Illinois? I can be across the big muddy and in the Hawkeye state in 15 minutes and if you add another 5 on the 15 I can be in the Show Me state. Also West Central Illinois.

Illinois is an interesting state. There is a small area around Lake Michigan called "Chicago". The rest of the state, including the part that borders Wisconsin is called "Downstate". "Chicago" runs everything. That's why I moved to Michigan.

Rural areas are the exceptions nationwide.

I’m guessing you live near Carthage. I live near Macomb.

"Interesting"? I'd call it something else, now... It used to be a good place to be. I grew up and worked around the windy city. Every other part of the state is good. I moved to Iowa when I retired. Only thing I miss are the restaurants.

I take it you don't have In and Out Burger there where you are. lol

I pulled out a little more firewood this afternoon. This one was a hard leaner and I had to lay it across the hill half way up. So I cut it in two and using snatch block pulled both pieces down from the middle.

Likely not much different than New York. A couple other guys on here may agree, NYC runs the show from elections to $$ deficit. At almost 50% of the population of the entire state, it would take a lot to sway things back toward common sense. The state governor (I'm not a fan) even pushes the city mayor to do things, but gives up after a short time. I live far enough away that I don't pay the prices, but close enough I could go visit if I ever wanted to again.

As for food banks, they usually do a lot of good, but sometimes it's just mentally for the donators, it helps them believe they are helping others, which is a noble feeling. There will always be dishonest people taking the food and thinking they are not abusing the system. Just like our Supreme court justices taking trips and staying at fancy places for free but saying its not a bribe. You can find dishonesty on all levels and classes. SNAP benefits actually do help some people, like those single moms who work full time but just need some help making the ends meet. Again, you will find abusers here too.

Wow, that is a bunch of wood.

How long do you think you'll be working at it?
