Who rides motorcycles?

I wanted a m/c all my life, but nooooo... Mom said flatly NO. Then my wife... NO! You have kids to support, etc., etc., etc. By the time I was 57 and divorced, I met a good-looking Gal riding a big Harley. i wanted to go out with her, but her demands were "If you want to go, you'll have to be on a m/c. Tuff demands, right? But I definitely wanted to go out with that gal.
So, I went down the next weekend and bought a well-used cop-bike. Not knowing how to ride it, I asked her to ride it home for me. That she did, in the pouring down rain no less.
If you think I jumped on the bike then, you'd be wrong. First thing I did was completely go through the bike, replacing every worn part. That effort, taking me about 4 months, that knowledge and experience proved very valuable to me many times over in the future. Once I had a completely renewed bike including changing the cop features, including changing the red/blue emergency lights, I got on my 'new' bike and learned to ride.
I immediately took a couple of m/c riding classes, then soon after the Advanced Police M/C riding class. Now I was ready to go riding with that good-looking lady. She and I hit it off like you wouldn't believe. We went riding every spare second, totally well over 200,000 miles over the next 20+ years.
I had to put my riding days behind me due to health reasons. Yep- 29 years later, we're still together. but the memories are forever, as is my love for that Harley-Riding lady.
I've had a motorcycle constantly for more than 60 years, still ride two of my 6 bikes regularly but somehow, I'm jealous.

Then, there are the people who Just Change the Gravitational Constant of the Universe....
(TNG reference....)

If not a fan, or don't like interesting Geology, skip to about 19 minutes.... not usually ever posted; shows her flying the drone, while riding through a remote area.

I was out for a spin on the Square Four today and that might have been the last one of the year - it is getting a bit cool for this old guy. (photo was taken last year)

That's epic adventure riding. And by a solo female rider... I saved it to watch later.

My father brought a Square four home when I was about 14 years old. I rode it once, then he sold it..$$
Follow up bike was a Matchless G80. I rode the wheels off that old single.

Noraly does more stuff in more far away places I'd never even consider. She's definitely one brave and adventurous lady, her videos are amazing for sure, the latest driving thru taliban areas scared the crap out of me.

Yes, more faith than safe. I worry about 'adventure' riding solo...what if I breakdown or fall :(

More mods on the Triumph done. Windshield and Crash Bar installed. Highway pegs today !
Also did some 1x1 risers for the beach bars.
Surprised to see the crash bar didn't mount up at the bottom without Triumphs $300 forward control support...so I found some 1/4 plate and cut out a piece to facilitate the attachment.

I ride solo 100% of the time on adventures in the woods, it is soul food to be in solitude! But I never go on single track stuff, THAT I'm too old to do. My Honda is almost 43 years old. But it sure is a good ooool reliable.

Imagine how i feel being married to my wife for over 50+yrs, and riding together up until recently due to to many stupid people on the road. Her Harley is parked right next to mine, just like our lives have been for well over 50+ years together. We as kids, grew up riding together, whether it was horse`s or motorcycle`s, we did every single thing, together. We will never leave each others side.

When You Least Expect It.....

.... Motorcycling can have a brutal way of reminding us, of many things. As she commented in that recent vid, riding tired, rushing, not paying enough attention to the road...... how many of us have had "accidents", physical or otherwise, due to the same mental factors. IF she didn't Own That Mistake, I wouldn't want to see her back on a MC ever.... but, she is wiser than that.

Threats, major problems.... sometimes arrive in Safe environments, when we least expect it. She received exemplary medical care in Africa, then, due to the recovery time (logical), decided to return to the Netherlands for the required follow-on surgery. During that surgery in the Netherlands, her lung was punctured.

I believe her book may now be available in English..... it's on my Need to Buy list.....

I was so excited to get the new saddlebags from Viking today. These are really nice hard bags. The mount bracket installed in 5 minutes and then I clip on the removeable bags stand back and wtf - to my disappointment the bags sat 3-4" higher than the pictures online. The top of the saddlebags was flush with the passenger seat. From the opposite side I saw 3/4 of the back side of the bag. It was not a good look. A wide passenger would be sitting on the bags. Ugh.
After a bit of measuring and thinking...I started making a 3" drop and 1.5 move to the rear adapter.. I have one side mocked up with a bracket extension and I have a plan to finish up tomorrow. They look good in the new position. I just need to stiffen up the mount with a new pipe attachment. This will work. Disappointing after all the $ I paid. Pictures later.
