Yeah. I remember my wife coming home from work disgusted by the results her and a coworker got when they searched taco pie looking for a recipe.
They probably got a good "talking to" from the IT department also. 🫢

No matter how I try Graybar Electric Supply is blocked on the company network…

Graybar is a 4+ billion company with 9500 employees.

Needless to say I did not buy anything.

Be sure to pay attention to the date code.

I have numerous sets that like good, or even like new, but are aged out.
I really don't pay much attention to the date code. If the tires have been stored out of the sun and are not weathered or checked, to me they are good.

From a motorcycle magazine article;
"The most common thought—and even I am guilty of this—is that tires should be replaced after five years even if they still have tread and appear serviceable. Ari asks the hard question, though: Is that a myth put out by the tire manufacturers to sell more tires, or simply a misunderstanding?

To resolve the first part of that question, he called some tire manufacturers and asked. The short answer is that it’s not that simple. Tires do age, but because that aging is due to a myriad of factors and is a safety concern, tire replacement guidelines rightfully fall on the conservative side. Five years, however, is a little too conservative. Only one producer, Avon, recommended anything close: seven years. Other brands—Bridgestone, Michelin, Dunlop, and Continental—agree that 10 years is the maximum lifespan for a properly maintained set of tires. That seems like a crazy number, but Ari decided to put his money where his motorcycle is."

I believe that in VT your vehicle will not pass State Inspection if the tires are more than 10 years old.

Just my opinion, but I think studs are good for one purpose only - actual ice, or super hard-packed snow that's like ice. Anything else, they do nothing positive, and will tend to reduce traction. I would bet most people drive under conditions where studs provide a positive benefit is well under 5%. This means that you pay extra for worse traction in 95% of situations - snow, slush, wet, dry.

The Blizzack DM-V2 are non-studdable, and don't need to be. They work awesome in all conditions.

The Haka LT3 are studdable, but I didn't get them studded and they have been fantastic - every bit as good as the Blizzaks.
Different strokes for different folks;
I have run studded tires for many decades. Many of the roads I drive on are secondary roads that get traffic on them before the plows go through. Much of the time it may be a wet snow that makes ice as soon as it gets run over.
Then most of the smaller Towns around here use sand with a bit of salt added to it, the grit works better on secondary roads especially dirt and gravel roads.
Salt and calcium on those roads make slippery slimy mess of the road surface. Then my long steep driveway is also most definitely handled better much of the winter with studded tires.

From the Vt inspection manual;
VN-113 - Periodic Inspection Manual
VN-113 12/2019 MTC 31
PLEASURE CAR AND LIGHT TRUCK
INSPECTION STICKER PLACEMENT
Inspection stickers must be affixed to a vehicle’s windshield in a location specified by the commissioner of the DMV.
WHEELS AND TIRES
Procedure: Examine tires.
Reject vehicle if:
1. Any tire is worn so that less than 2/32-inch tread remains in any two major grooves.
2. Any tire has a worn spot that exposes the cord through the tread.
3. Any tire has visible bumps, bulges, or knots indicating failure or separation of the tire structure.
4. Any tire has cuts, snags, or severe ozone or weather cracks in any location.
5. Tires on the same axle are not the same type, construction, or size.
6. Any tire is marked "For Farm Use Only," "Off-Highway Use Only," "Racing use Only," etc.

Advise customer if:
1. Tire tread depths are between 2/32 and 4/32 of an inch, as they are likely to diminish to below safety standards before the term of the safety inspection expires.
2. Tire size does not match manufacturer specifications.
3. The tire is more than 8 years old. In this case, recommend replacement.
Note: Refer to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for tire manufacturers’ recommend tire age for replacement.
Procedure: Examine wheels. Refer to 49 CFR § 570.10 for additional information.

At least it is JUST a recommendation NOT a requirement.
I would swear VT. is trying to chase Commiforia and NYC cityidiots for governmental meddling.

Next up it will be illegal to mount a tire 8 yrs or older :rolleyes:
Forced obsolescence when we already have mountains of used tires
I swear the tire guy that recently put new tires on my truck said co policy they can't mount tires over 7 yrs old. Or below minimum Tread depth. Cuz I Asked them if they dealt with old used winter tires for my beater, my search continues.

Tires start aging the second they leave the mold. Storing them correctly does help, but doesn't stop the aging process- even though Tire Rack recently changed their policies for the (much) worse.

Tire Rack's parent company, Discount Tire, won't mount tires older than six years as I recall.

Now, bias tires are a different story. Unlike radials they don't try to delaminate and can last practically forever if kept out of UV rays.

I use Discount Tire. They recommend replacement at 6 years of age. They will not service a tire beyond 10 years of age. And yes, they do check, at least the store I go to checks.

I have a set of Big O Tires back when warranted forever as long as minimum tread depth…

About 42 years old now and still have nubs on the tires… VW Thing

Always a big fan of lifetime warranties and for a time just about everyone was offering… from batteries to mufflers…

With me owning some cars more than 50 years it’s the gift that keeps giving.
