I'm looking at one of these Echo's. What one would you suggest?
Only looking for a Echo, no good H or S dealers in the area.

Maybe if you let us know what your intended use is, you may get some suggestions.

It depends on your usage. I had an SRM-225 for our 1/3 acre yard in the burbs and it was fine. It would be underpowered for the wooded, weedy 6 acres we're on now.

I have one of those too. It was perfect for the "burbs" as you said. We still use it around generally well maintained areas where we live now. But yeah, it's not a bush hog - LOL.

Sounds like I should hold off and get the srm 2620.

I've got a PAS 266 powerhead with the paddle, string trimmer, hedge trimmer and extension. I had owned a SRM-225 but as others had said, it's underpowered for anything but light cleanup. As was also said it depends on your intended use.

I have a PAS 225 and I would say it’s not enough power especially when I use the blower on it.

I have the 58v Echo battery job. Unless you are using it professionally, it will handle anything the gasser will do. I use it on some brush and thick grass.

The new ones are 56v. The batteries last longer than I do!

I've bought and worn out several brands of weed eaters. Echo was my favorite gasoline powered one. It started the easiest. I'm not familiar with the model numbers, and it's been years since I owned a gas weed eater. Eventually the Echo fuel primer, then the fuel line got all gummed up from the gasoline I was using, and it sat for too long over the winter that I decided it wasn't worth the money to have the Dealer fix it.

I bought a Makita dual battery cordless weed eater off of Amazon that's been amazing. I put two 18 volt batteries on it and I've never had them die on me before I was done weed eating. It's amazing not having to fuel it up, or wear ear plugs to use it.

Three years ago, my brother passed away and I inherited his Kobalt cordless weed eater. I just have one battery for it, and it has sat for at least three years. I charged it up the other day to see if it worked, and I did my entire yard from just that one battery.

Comparing the two, Makita and Kobalt, I'm not sure if the Makita is worth the extra money. They both work great. I have a bunch of Makita cordless tools, a dozen batteries, and it's my go to brand when I need another tool. But if I was buying today, I'd probably save a buck and buy the Kobalt.

We also gave up on gasoline powered leaf blowers. My wife bought a Sun Joe from Amazon because of it's price and reviews. It was on sale for $25. It has two settings. Low and High. When using it on the High setting, it will twist your wrist. It's very impressive how much air it moves!!!! Dealing with a cord is kind of a pain, but not that big of one compared to buying gas, mixing gas, storing gas, and pouring the gas into a leaf blower to get it to run. Being quite so I don't need ear plugs just to blow the pine needles off the porch is also a huge plus. We leave it on the porch and use it several times a week. It's so easy and quite there isn't any excuse not to use it when we're out there.

I have an Echo PPF-2620 power pruner with the same 25.4cc engine as the SRM-2620 and I love it. Starts first pull every time, lots of power and has been dead reliable for the last couple of years of fairly heavy use. My next string trimmer will be an Echo.

Exactly what I have, too. The chainsaw was the 1st one. I got tired of dealing with fuel. I get pros wanting longer run time. I've got 3 batteries. Way more time than I'm working, especially in summer!

I have a Echo 36v trimmer now. Well two of them. My dealer said he was having trouble selling them. The lawn maintenance co's wouldn't buy them. He sold me the second one for $100. They are really nice. I like that speed feed head. The reason I want a gas one is every month I cut a section and it ends up taking 4 batteries.

Just talked to my dealer. He said he has a Shindaiwa T262 that is marked down. I pick it up Wednesday.

S guy here, plenty of dealers in my neighborhood so that wasn't an issue. I can't really comment on Echo because I don't own them except to tell you if you're going to spend more than a half an hour with that thing get the biggest one you can afford and see walking around with for more than a half hour. This is just my opinion like an old timer once told me, nobody ever buys a boat and later wishes it had a smaller motor.

Since I'm not familiar with the ECHO line I can say when I bought my Stihl that even local dealers told me to buy the 91 for my property. I ignored them and bought the 131 and to be honest with you if I did it again I would buy something even more powerful. If you have anything other than juicy green vegetation, running a heavier line kicks butt. For the real light stuff I have a DeWalt cordless trimmer that will handle grass, but for anything heavier than that I'm sure glad I bought a professional grade trimmer.

I have the Echo-pas-225 and it works well, except on heavy thick-stemmed weeds. I think that’s more of a limitation of the 0.95 string size than engine power. For heavy weeds, I use my Echo wheeled trimmer with 1.55 string.

I wholeheartedly second this comment- and would add that the Milwaukee is a great choice especially if you already have M18 stuff you're invested in. I have the weedwhacker, edger, hedge trimmer and polesaw attachments, and do not miss the gas versions one bit. 2 small (3.5A) batteries last longer than I do.

subhunter, I just went through same process.
Went to my local ECHO dealer with the intent of purchasing SRM2120 and ended up with the SRM225 .
I just take care of my own 2+ acres. The SRM225 is more than adequate.
All of the trimmers you are looking at a basically the same.

I just bought the SRM 2620 a couple weeks ago. Like all Echo products, it's a great machine. Figuring it will be the last one I'll buy, I decided to move up from the SRM 225. It's noticably more powerful and hopefully just as bullet proof as the 225. Good luck.
