I've a 10K cargo trailer, 4 wheels, looking to get new tires, 225 75 R15 Greenball was what I had at one time.
But what is recommended now? Probably (based on past experience). I'll only tow 15,000 miles max with them in the next 6 years, carrying about a 7,000lb load or less one way, and 3,000 coming back..

I’ve had good luck with Goodyear trailer tires first the marathon and now the endurance.

Goodforayear Endurance is a very expensive trailer tire, very expensive. And as such I would expect it to last for a long time.

For me I just go to the local tire shop and ask them for a 10 ply trailer tire and whatever they install is fine. No such thing as a dangerous tire anymore ever since the Ford/Firestone fiasco and subsequent government regulation.

I’ve been using Greenballs on my RV’s for 25 years without a single problem. They work fine for me but YMMV.

A 10k trailer will have two 5,200 lb. axles, correct? If so then any 10 ply trailer tire should be overkill (which is a good thing in my opinion).

I am a big advocate of getting more tire than I need, simply because i know the idiot that owns the trailer is going to put as much on the trailer as will fit, despite the weight, LOL.
My Big Tex came from the factory with 10 ply tires, which blew rather quickly. They were replaced with 12 ply which didn't last much longer. The previous owner then went all out to 14 ply tires, and no more tire issues hauling the tractor around. I bought it with 14 ply, and while getting a bearing changed on the road, realized it needed brakes. While doing the brakes, I got to looking at those 14 ply tires and realized they were 6 to 7 years old. Decided it was time to invest in new ones. They didn't have 4 matching ones in stock, so I borrowed their shop truck and went up the street in search of a set. They had 4 matching one, but I noticed a stack of tires with 17.5 in 16 ply sitting there with rims. Asked if they would fit my trailer, so he grabbed a hub for mine, and yes they fit. I am now running the same height tire as the 16 inch tires I was running, in a 17.5 and 16 ply. Considering the weight I have put on the trailer the last two trips, I am sure glad I did!
By the way, I also added a TPMS sensors to the truck and trailer(s) so now I can monitor the pressure and the temperature of the tires.

When I bought new tires for my utility trailer this spring, the difference between 10 ply and 12 ply was about $8 bucks per tire. It was a no-brainer for me.

As far as ride quality goes, you'll never know the difference unless you're riding on the trailer while somebody else is driving.

Cheap, black and round..they also need to be radial and hold air. In 8-10yrs your going to need to replace them anyway.

I run just cheap tires on nearly everything I own. And no I'm not changing tires every 500mi. Never had a blow out in 20yrs.

Tires are designed for a little bit shorter time frame than 8-10 years. I start looking for new ones at 6 years. I replaced the tires on my 20 ft enclosed trailer at six years before I went to Ft Lauderdale to haul an unknown weight back to Jax. They had less than 1000 miles on them, but had aged to six years. I wasn't taking a chance, time to bite the bullet.
If you haven't had a blowout, then you aren't driving enough.

I log at least 3,800mi towing per year. Alot more than 1,000mi in 6yrs. I'm just carefull about not pulling over on the shoulder, not hitting things, checking air pressure and not overloading. Also every pit stop I touch every tire and wheel hub to check temp.

Carlisle Tire used to recommend replacing Trailer tires every 3 years due to the extreme stress on tandem axles. That is also one reason ST tires are made with less tread depth.

I purchased the trailer in 2019 that was a 2015 model, with 2014 tires on it. Only two of us ever pulled the trailer since new, and the 3rd guy who tried burnt the transmission up in his truck, going to Disaster Relief. I purchased it and the team purchased a 14 foot trailer so that it could be hauled by other team members. I didn't need the trailer, but it makes a good storage unit.
As far as driving goes, I do about twice your annual mileage every month or about 100,000 a year...give or take a few. Checking the hubs and tires, used to do that on my personal vehicles, but now I use TMPS system that tells me the current pressure and temperature of each tire on towing vehicle and the trailer. Gives a lot better chance of catching problems sooner.

I do the same. I have three towing trucks so any type of electronic setup would be challenging. Those point and shoot thermometers work well.

I also carry a IR temperature gun in my truck and check my hubs regularly.
That is a lot better than some people, but even that has it's drawbacks. You have to actually stop to check them. (I used to walk around the vehicle, touching the tire and then the hub.)
I left home at 7am a couple months ago to run down to Stuart to pick up a Toro Workman 4x4 that a Lady had on F/B Marketplace. She agreed to hold it for me till 1pm. I got up onto the I-295 bypass and noticed my TPMS readings were a little skewed. While all the readings were at 85 degrees, front right tire was at 115 degrees. I drove to the next exit and it had climbed to 125 while the others remained constant. I pulled over, got out and checked and yep, somethings wrong. Seems the front right caliper was not releasing the brakes completely. I turned around took the truck home, called a friend who hooked up his trailer to his truck and I used his rig to go after the Toro. Point being, if I had waited till my Bride needed to stop for a restroom break, the truck would have already been broken down. Having the TPMS system added to my 2000 F350 and my trailers was a good move. The cost of the TPMS system was less than a road service to come fix my truck, or haul it and the trailer home. (plus I would have missed out on the Toro Workman 4x4)
