My trusty 1984 Husky Rancher 50 sprung a bar oil leak. I shoved some plastic tubing into the hole above the filler which "fixed" the leak well enough to enable the saw to be used but hopefully it can be fixed properly. What was in that hole? Any chance I can find a replacement, maybe even something from a later model?

Although rather weighty it is a great saw, plenty of power.

TIA

I have a way back background in Computer Science. IPL to me means Initial Program Load or Boot Loader in current terminology. What's your "IPL"? 🤷‍♂️

And it looks like the spring clip and the valve are NLA from Husqvarna.

Thank you for your helpful replies and the IPL xyz, and your white top Rancher 50 is identical to mine.

There's very few long established Husky dealers around my way who might have dusty shelves of 40 year old parts, or could be bothered to look for them, but worth a try now I know the part numbers.

Otherwise shouldn't be too hard to cobble something up. I very seldom fell any trees, mostly cut up fallen stuff for firewood so the saw isn't being run on it's side. As I mentioned jamming the plastic tube into the hole works kind of OK.

You might try chainsawr.com for used chainsaw parts, if the parts you need are no longer in production. I’ve had good luck finding parts to fix some older saws from them.
