A few years ago I got my 4WD tractor stuck in axle deep in mud. Tires just loaded up and spun. Tried using the FEL to lever out but that got nowhere. Bought a 12,000 lb. Harbor Freight electric winch and added it to help pull it out while I drove. The synthetic winch line is easy to handle and has no fishhooks like steel cable does. The snatch block on the ROP frame makes it easy to lift the flail mower to clear the junk I wrap up by accident. Or lift one end of big logs to drag them around. The mounting bracket attaches to stainless steel parts I welded together and bolted to the lower ROP rectangular tube frame. This addition made this 25hp. Chinese diesel tractor a real work horse. Here is the result:

I've been thinking about doing something similar. I often get stuck while plowing and the idea of using a hydraulic winch has possibilities. I plan to mount it on the FEL subframe and power it with the 3rd function valve.

This afternoon my 5,000 # HF winch snapped.
It may have 2 hours on it...I need a better one.

I've been using the synthetic Poly winch cable rated at 12,000 lbs. No problems after lots of work with it.

I like the winch on the rear to pull out backwards!

I am trying to understand mounting the winch that high for recovery purposes. It seems mounted that high could tip the tractor backwards unless an implement is on the 3pt.

Note the lifting the implement higher may be useful at times that the OP mentioned.

Does the winch have any tendency to tip the tractor rearward when winching?

I'm really hoping the OP is not using the snatch block mounted on the ROPS to pull in heavy loads.

He mentioned lifting the implements higher which would be kinda okay.

However, he also said lifting logs to move them and if that involves the snatch block then I agree no.
