This unit a 2014 John Deere 4044R with 113 hours is still up FS. He seemed motivated when I messaged him. Maybe he'd take 35K? Does need one rear and a front hydraulics added to it

Won't you also need to switch out tires immediately as well or do you plan to run tire chains? This one is located in Indiana.

I think we'd try without to start with. Chain use require those wheel spacers. Some guys claim turf tires do better in snow.

Keep in mind that turf tires aren't as tough as R4's for forest work.

I've heard people say that, but I don't buy it. Turf tires are designed for the least traction and least damage while mowing lawn-type areas. They aren't really suited for loader work or much of anything else. You can certainly roll around on them, but any other tire would be better for anything other than mowing lawns.

There are those that swear by turf tires in snow, but my conditions and experience are similar to yours... Nothing is worse than turf tires in snow.

There is a wide variety of opinions of tire tread styles and snow. Nonetheless, changing tires out sure would be costly.

@ArlyA It looks like you have been pondering buying, and asking questions here about tractor purchasing since 2016 but have never pulled the trigger yet. Are you looking for one for yourself or one for your club to use? Have you made the absolute decision to finally buy one or still just pondering the idea?

I don't think I would want to purchase a tractor with the possibility of needing to replace the tires. That would add thousands to the final cost. I would not in any way want turf tires for the intended use you have expressed.

Different purchase and was for a club, they did get a 4045 back in 2016. We are now bidding on a property with acreage.
