Making a Three Point Hitch

Hello Everyone,

So my tractor(IH 806 w/ pto and rear hydraulics) I recently got only came with a drawbar, and I need a three point hitch to run a rough cut mower.
There used to be a company that made three point hitch but they are long gone and hard to find in Canada.

I was looking at making my own Cat 1 three point hitch (tractor is 100 hp but i dont really need higher category hitch)
I was wondering if anyone had any guidance or specifications documents on building three point hitches.
One of the ideas I had was to buy a three point hitch kit that kubota sells for its bx series and adding steel plating and having a 3x12 hydraulic cylinder. (Kubota #BX2506 3-Point Hitch Kit for BX25 / BX25D / BX23S Tractors).

Have you checked with any junkyards about possibly buying the factory 3 point hitch from a junked 806 ?

Offhand, I think BX arms on a 100 hp tractor are going to be awfully short. They also have a lot of offset, since the BX mounting points are close together. How far apart are the mounts on the 806?

Kubota also has a kit for the L series TLBs, but they're pretty narrow also. Tractor Supply has some arms, I think.

I checked every yard within 300 km and no luck unfortunately. 90% of them just didnt come with 3 pt up here it seems.

I think you are right, if i went down that route id have to weld extension onto the arm i think.

Not sure but would 856 or 866 arms work or possibly 1006 or 1056, etc. Not sure where you are located but have you looked at Worthington Ag. They are a big used part company in the USA.

Unfortunately im in Canada and with shipping costs to where im at it is insane prices. Thanks for the suggestion

Not sure where you are in Canada, but here in Alberta we have a business called GRATTON COULEE AGRI PARTS. The have a wide selection of goods.
They are in IRMA ALBERTA.

Unfortunately I suspect it wasn’t until the later years of the 806 that they started offering them with the 3 point hookup option .
Does your 806 have the proper mounts for a 3 point hitch ?

Adding 3pt to 806

How hard is it (even possible) to add a 3pt to an 806 that came from the factory without one? A buddy of mine found an 806 diesel for sale that doesn't have one. I would really like to have another project now that my 1466 is done. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks guys!

It does not unfortunately, complete bareback with just a drawbar.

You might be money ahead to buy a different tractor to run that mower or get a pull type mower for your 806.

Thank you, current design im using a singular 2x12 hydraulic cylinder and sticking to making it cat 1 as this will only be used for mowing pretty much. Appreciate that pdf.

Found this one in Ontario Canada, if it's still there, if that's any closer: 1967 INTERNATIONAL 806 Dismantled Machines in Teeswater, Ontario

There are several more in Canada but one is Fast Hitch, and the rest seem to be drawbar types apparently like you have.

Surprised to find so many "Wheatland" 806's were made. We got an early 806, big step up for a farm with a Case 400 diesel, 2 Farmall M's, 2 H's, and a Super A. Great to have a semi-mounted 5 bottom plow to replace the pull type. Having the spec sheet, I saw the Wheatland Special and wondered why someone would buy without 3 point, but so many customers had tractors like W9 and a 3-point was a waste. I have a friend, Bill Braunsworth, in Plato, MN, who resurrects dead IH tractors who likely has the stuff but you being in Canada, likely too expensive. Last time I was there he dozens of old IH tractors mostly robbed of engine and transmission parts with the rest of the carcasses stacked until he ran out of room and called the scrap man.

Maybe you should look for an old tow behind rough cut mower?

Might be easier to convert your mower to drawbar hitch
