Put the cost of the extended warrantee into an interest bearing account, if you need it, the money is there. If not, you're further ahead down the road.

Most people never make a claim, (certainly nowhere near their premium cost). The only one making out is the extended warrantee companies. They are only in it for profit, they cannot stay in business if they pay out more than they take in.
I asked: Does anybody have recommendations? I've seen several advertised on Tv and looked at Granger's website.
I'll go back and change that.
IF I choose to buy one it will be worth it to me.

Again my ONLY recommendation is an extendable factore authorized warranty like Fords offers. All the rest are worth maybe the paper they are written on, maybe.

Sheesh, I went on that site and put in my somewhat fictitious information (had to fudge the year and it gave me a price that was almost twice what I paid for the factory extended warranty. I don't think so...

My GM dealer sells Allstate extended warranties. I have them on all 3 of our vehicles. Extends warranty out to 10 years or 100,000 or 150,000 miles, depending on vehicle. Since we don't put that many miles on our vehicles it will cover them for 10 years. Deduction starts at $100 and drops every year. If we are still around and driving then, it will be time to get new vehicles when they run out of warranty.

I've had the RAM (mopar) extended warranties on 3 vehicles. Still have it on my currant RAM I got the 8 year 125,000 mile full coverage with the $200 Deductible (same as I've had for the others). The worst thing is that the 8 year time starts from when the truck was first sold. They are expensive, they are also fairly comprehensive.
I will also admit I've paid more for warranties then the repairs would have been so far. But with all the expensive electronics and so much being all can based communication most of the parts swappers can run a bill up pretty high real fast.
With me getting to the age when many of the repairs will be rough to accomplish the warranties give me a good peace of mind, even if they don't make the most sense economically.
But one lemon type repair that they spend numerous days chasing and calling the factory tech support, ouch.

All it takes is one good 'bang' ant it's worth it's weight in gold and peace of mind. I still would never buy an aftermarket warranty, only an OEM underwritten one. Again, only familiar with Fords but I see the others offer a similar deal.

You can always buy an expensive scan tool (My Autel set me back over a grand) but yo still have to buy the parts and install them.

I'm looking to buy an F250/Ram 2500 size vehicle for towing my trailers, which carry my tractors and other stuff. In the interest of saving $$ I'm looking at getting a vehicle several years older than new. With labor rates at $200 per hour and up (Alexandria. Va) I'd like to get a bumper to bumper warrantee if I can afford it.
Does anybody have recommendations? /edit (for a car warranty company) I've seen several advertised on Tv and looked at Granger's website.
I extended my manufacturers warranty. My Ram extended warranty is simply an extension of the warranty that came with my truck from Ram . IMO, that’s the way to go if buying a used truck, buy a truck with a little warranty left on it, and extend it at the dealership as part of the purchase.
Once out of warranty it becomes more cloudy.

Luckily, I have had very few problems or repairs to deal with.

Used to be a person could drop a tranny or pull an engine with minimal tooling. Now to pull an engine most of the brands require pulling the cab off the chassis first.
I'm just not feeling like that these days.

When I was running and wrenching on my stock car I could pull the engine in an hour by myself .
Now by the time I get the scanner out plugged in and read the codes and look up what they mean, I've used up an hour and haven't even popped the hood.

And then on top of that on many brands and all the Stellantis (RAM) after 2019 you have to bypass the security module to access many of the modules and reset codes.

Avoid all 3rd party warranties like those shown on TV, they are problematic and a money grab.

If you want a Ford extended warranty, purchase the genuine Ford ESPP warranty from Grainger, Flood Ford, etc.. They are honored by all Ford dealerships in the U.S.. Grainger generally sells them for $50 over cost. You can select from various coverages, durations, and deductibles. Also, should you sell your vehicle prior to the ESPP expiration, you will be issued a pro-rated credit for the unused time. I leveraged that when I sold my F150 Raptor and was quickly issued a check.

I have no practical experience with RAM extended warranties, I did not purchase one on my TRX..

.
Good luck..
