Cabs are also crated (taller crates) when the come from overseas. They can get more in container that way. Again, they (often) sit outside before being crated, they get unloaded where ever they get assembled/tires and probably sit outside there, then the sit outside waiting on a truck. I am sure there are exceptions to this (always are), but this is pretty standard for all the industry. Long and short - it has been this way for years, if it caused any real problems, the manufactures would find another way. Tractors with come out of the crate with issues do not sell, tractors that do not sell cost the manufacture money on so many levels (increased inventory cost, repair cost, floorplan cost, lost sales, etc.).
Correct
This has already been made a bigger deal than it ever needed to be.
The op had a question. The answer was “no it’s not a big deal”.

Isn't that kubota model made in Georgia?

Glad you are happy with your tractor. I looked long and hard at new TYM and Kioti machines before I bought a used Kubota with 150 hrs on it.
I prefer to not buy new. Cars, trucks, and tractors all loose value heavily in the first 2 years. Let somebody else take the hit. Did you really take the savings and invest? That's good. Most people never do.
I agree he should do whatever he thinks is best. Unless he doesn't trust his own judgement in which case he should ask like he did and then...do whatever he thinks is best.
Sound advice, although around here, there are no savings on less than 250 hours or so, when buying from private party. Dealers pass the saving on to you, because they paid less, and still make money. In my 1 1/2 years of looking for a used version of what I wanted, I gave up and bought new. private parties want just about new price, too much, and no inventory at dealers. Buying new from dealer for about $300 more with full warranty, plus they got the sale, to me is worth it.

Good to know about SOP but the Kioti came in on the truck last week from overseas
How long it sat crated for shipment is a crap shoot and then it was sequesterd in a hot shipping container for a couple weels on it's voyage across the ocean. If I were you, I'd buy the crated Kubota and be done with it.

My first M9000 I waited for over 6 months for it to be built in Japan and another month for it to arrive in Georgia and another month for it to be shipped to my dealer, none of which impacted it at all. None of them are 'new' in the purset snense of the word and sitting a shipping cate (angle iron frame) is how they all are. JD included as I hauled JD's for many years.

Depends entirely on the model but the engines and drivelines are all made across the pond, with assembly in the Peach state. Kubota does make some implements in Georgia however as well as Landpride in (I think) Missouri. LP is a wholly owned subsidary of Kubota and has been for a number of years now.

Dealers (I work for one, part time), don't buy new tractors they floor plan them. The only exception is a special order unit like When I purchased my first M9000. I had to special order it from Kubota in Japan because when I bought it, it was no longer in production, being trplaced my a newer model that I didn't want. My dealer did some fiddling around with Kubota and they built me one, special order. In fact the one I own, cab model was assembled entirely in Japan and shipped not crated at all but came in completely assembled strapped to a steel frame so they could load in on a ocean going container ship. How it arrived at my dealer. All he had to do was remove the steel frame, check the fluid levels (it shipped with all fluids installed including 1/4 tank of diesel) and I paid full retail price for it because it was a one off special order What I wanted and expected to pay actually.

Interestingly, many of the sub asemblies are paint marked as well as drivetrain parts. I believe Kubota had all the required parts to build one last M9 , so they did and the obe I got came with stuff that would have been special order on a production unit, like a full arctic cold weather package (block heater, special order air cleaner and it came full loaded with all available options like the 2 speed shiftabe PTO, swinging drawbar and 3 sets of remotes plus flow control. Every cab option as well. Heated side windows, heated rear window with wiper and even a 7 way plug wired in to the main harness. Even has a small plaque attached to the side frame under the alternator that states: Built especially for (my name) on such and such a date, by Kubota Tractor, Japan. Nice unit and I've never had any issues with it that could be traced back to assembly. That was back in 2002 and Kubota dropped that model and replaced it with a slopped hood model in 02, for the 04 lineup and I specifically wanted a square hood, so I bought one and Kubota obliged. Like it so much I bought another used one 01, a couple years ago, went entirely through it and replaced all the questionable components and other than being an open station, it's identical to my custom built tractor. Both take the same fluids, filters and tires but the one I purchased used is a single speed pto and came with the rare down exhaust pipe which was a little purchaed option on the M9 series.

Both have cast center rears and both came with front and rear locking diffs as well. The loader on the one I special ordered was made in Japan, not Georgia but the loader on the OS model was built in Georgia. I will never sell either one, ever and when I pass, my wife will sell them, I'm sure and get top buck for them as they are both well maintained and 100% emissions free.

I actually made arrangements with my dealer to get all my tractors and implements and sell them for her. One less thing I have to be concenerd with. He gets all the equipmemt, sells it and gives her the proceeds and being 76 years old, I suspect I don't have an infinite amount of time left anyway.

Did the same thing with the machine and fab shop I own and operate. Less hassle for her.

That is quite a story for a one of a kind tractor.

LP used to be made in Kansas before Kubota bought them. I assume still there.

They are but the name on the building changed. I couldn't remember the state they are in...
