What do you pay for electricity in China
I am paying for the electricity of two meters, one is my family's and one is my grandmother's, because they all use electricity to cook in my house, so my family's is usually around 150RMB, and my grandmother's is generally around 60RMB, because there is air conditioning

Thank you for your welcome
Because my hometown is located in the south, most of them are planting sugarcane, but also corn and peanuts, and now it is popular to grow chili peppers, and paddy fields are generally planted with rice, and now most young people will go to Guangdong Province to work, so many places have changed to eucalyptus, on the land where sugarcane was originally planted :D
Is it difficult to find farm laborers in China?

在中国找农场工人难吗?
We are not farms, just homesteaders, and generally neighbors help each other.
There are very few farms in southern China, because Guangxi has too many mountainous terrain, and there is very little large area of arable land, and there are more farms in the north, because there are many plains, and they have already achieved mechanization there

Bill divided by kWh used puts me at 68 cents per PGE kilowatt all in including meter and taxes.

It’s 16 cents to generate and 50 cents per kWh to distribute here in SF Bay Area.

As a side note with taxes natural gas about $3 per therm.

My guess is many could not afford if we had summer A/C and cold winters.

They stealth raised our bills last fall. No notice. Added $10 to the Facilities fee, which raises your bill $10 no matter how much you use.

Still averaging 18-20 per KwHr even with that hike.

Went back through some old bills (everybody keeps those, don't they?) I'm paying twice as much per month for about half the usage from 15 years ago.

Just saw an old newspaper from 1930. A subscriber was outraged because the monthly electric bill was $18 and their only appliances were a toaster, an icebox and the pump on the oil furnace (and I suppose lights). Times have changed.

We use average billing, our cost this month was $349 for all the buildings. Our electric power co-op raised rates this month for the first time in 8 years. Meter charge went up $5 to $25/mo and electricity went up $.004 to $0.109/kWh. Meter charge will go up another $5 next year. They also have a Power Cost Recovery Factor to pay for fuel costs, some months it is a debit and others it is a credit. Between the 3200 square foot house, the stables, and the shop there are 5 HVAC units, 2 full size and 4 mini fridges, and 3 and 1/2 hot water heaters.

We put in a 50,000 BTU electric heater in the shop to keep the new plumbing from freezing over the winter. Kept it set on 50°. Didn't work, plumbing for the sink still froze. Shop bill that month was more than the house and barn bill, over $300. First week of May my HVAC contractor is coming out to put a 4-ton HVAC unit in the 30'X40' shop. Now I can work in the shop during the summer when it hits 100°, plus it should keep the pipes from freezing in the winter. Metal contractor came by this week and replaced the skylights with metal and insulation. Shop is fully insulated, will swap out the rollup 10'X10' doors for regular panel insulated garage doors.

I don’t know how much electricity is in Hawaii but it appears California is again number 1 in highest price per kWh

I pay about $220/month. Most of our power usage is the deep well 2hp pump, and the fact that we have more freezers than cars in the garage.

That 1930 electric bill of $18 is equivalent of $344.69 today due to inflation of 1815% so that customer had a good reason to be outraged for the bill to operate these: "their only appliances were a toaster, an icebox and the pump on the oil furnace (and I suppose lights)".

Times have changed and almost everything is probably cheaper now if compared to back in 1930 when taking wages & inflation into the equation.

It's just that most of us want and need so much more of everything now...

Wow! In reading this thread, I'm amazed at how much electric rates vary in different parts of the country!

Here in PA, we are allowed to shop for the best rate. Right now, I'm paying 7 cents for the electric portion of the bill and 14 cents for taxes & distribution. The total is slightly less than 20 cents per KWH.

Highest my bill has ever been is just shy of $90.

I think I might break that this summer with the rate increase.

I'm happy when mine is under $200, but a lot of lights (even though most are led's) but the motion lights turn on frequently. Then the commercial freezer along with the regular freezer and a big refrigerator.
Then her car this year, and she runs an electric heater quite often.

My nearly bay area PG&E bill was $0.46/kw all in last month. The plan we're on give us credits on the distribution side that cover the generation cost to within a few dollars. We don't have solar so it's probably a different plan than yours.

Our local municipality takes bids on generation, and our power is "generated" by Constellation New Energy. We just received a notice quoting our generation cost at $0.079. We have the option to pay our distribution company for power but it's usually 1 or 2 cents higher. I haven't checked distribution costs lately.

For decades it was always the high cost of generation until home solar became popular…

Who knew the lions share of electricity is distribution and no longer generation?

NH had higher rates last year, .30 KWH, due to fuel costs—last month's bill for 468 KWH was $110, of which $40 was for electricity and $70 for delivery costs, or $.24 per KWH.

As noted, there are still a few geographies with low-cost grid-power, but that's getting to be the exception rather than the old norm.....

That ^ issue, shows no decline in trajectory........ yet another consideration for building totally off-grid.

The general push is to make ALL forms of energy very expensive. (Read Epstein's book, Fossil Future).

My bill last month was $124.20 I divide that by the amount of kilowatts hours (624kwh) I used and get $0.1990/kwh. That is what electricity cost me last month, all in. From November 1 to April 30 I've got 1000 kwh to play with. From May 1 until October 31 the maximum I have to play with is 600 kwh. I don't have air conditioning. I can keep the bill under the 600 threshold in summer. The price of just the electricity is $0.093/kwh. Then with all the other add ons, delivery, regulatory and tax jacks the price per kwh up to the $0.1990/kwh.
I don't have solar/wind power. When I bought this place solar and wind was available, but I didn't have the 10 grand to invest in it. I still don't have the money to invest in it and am now too old. (78)
When I bought this place 31 years ago the electricity was costing the previous owner $1,000.oo every three months.
I immediately tore out the electric heaters and put in an oil furnace and wood stove. Fast forward to today I still have the same oil furnace, a wood furnace in the basement and a wood stove upstairs. Wood usage is 3 cords/year.
