All,

The bolts shown in the attached picture (not sure what there called) continuously loosen up on our 2610 despite torquing them properly and using Loctite. Any suggestions on how to keep these from backing out? I don't see a way to safety wire them...btw this isn't a 2610 loader arm, but the setup is similar.

Thanks,
Lou

Which loader do you have? KL4030 or KL4030C. It may make a difference as the 'C' was manufactured by a sub contracted company and there were some issues.
My KL4030 has been flawless with a lot of grapple log handling and dirt work.

A couple of mine did this as well, to the point I lost one, but retorqing fixed the problem so far.

I suggest your try to get replacements for the ones that keep backing out. Could be that they were over-tightened and are now stretched..?

Dealer gave me a couple spares for free.

Mine always loosen up. Good thing is though, if they fall out, nothing happens. Just keep spares around.

Use LocTite red, LocTite blue is for applications you need to remove easily. Red only comes loose when heated to 500°.
If those are moving joints, a shoulder bolt works best, but finding the correct fit might be difficult.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try some red LocTite or see if I can safety wire them somehow.

Appreciate the replies.

I'm guessing that's a KL4030? The KL4030C has a whole different setup for grease fittings.

Let us know how the LocTite works!

If using loctite the threads must be free of any oil or grease. If oil on threads the loctite typically will not setup and harden properly.

i would not use any product that requires 500 degrees to remove.....but maybe thats just me

Yep, grease them “more often” so that you catch them before they pop off. Tighten them up as necessary and if they go missing replace with your spares…😉

I lost a bolt on one of mine and then I couldn't find a proper length replacement, but I did have one that is a bit too long so it bottoms out in the hole before the head does and it stays fine. I think all the bolt does is keep the pin from turning, which a longer bolt does just fine. Looks wrong but it works.

No red. Blue blue blue. You just need a little bit.

If using loctite the threads must be free of any oil or grease. If oil on threads the loctite typically will not setup and harden properly.
In case one may not be aware but there are two types of blue loctite.
242 and 243......I use the 243 because I am truly lazy but on occasion to clean up and wipe away oils and grease prior to using it.
A few shots of brake cleaner then assembly and large bugger drops of 243.
Here is a thread on the topic. for a deeper look-see.

And as mentioned once IF the bolts have / may have been over tightened; then I would get new bolts, clean threads, even consider a thread chaser, then use the blue 243 and snug tight or toque specs of available.

Loctite difference 242 vs 243 ??? - HeliFreak
This thread discusses the two types, 242 and 243.

When I rebuilt the FEL cylinder for the 2d time, bolt removal was a bit tough. Hammer fist the 3/8 ratchet, which means the 243 is working well. Because I did not bear down on it during the first rebuild- reinstall but snugged it up until there was no more 'forced' movement.
