Maybe not technically an emergency brake, but my brakes have a locking lever. Also always put my bucket and/or 3pt implement down when I get off the tractor.

EXACTLY.

Also, with snow plowing and a rear blade, I have to hop off and rotate the blade a few times. I take it out of gear and apply the locking brake. When the temps drop tooooo low, the PowerShift/ShuttleShift likes to crawl in the neutral position. Do not trust a machine when it behaves oddly. Your life is worth more than the chore! Go the extra mile for Safety.

Three of my four tractors have a separate parking brake; IH 574, Branson 8050, and New Holland 8160.
The Kioti CK2620 does not have a separate parking brake but does have a latch for the service brake.
I almost never shut off a tractor while connecting an implement, either towed or mounted, two tractors have fender mounted lift arm controls and one has an operable lift arm control from the rear.
Without shutting off the tractor while connecting a PTO-driven implement, I realize it's not likely, but I would be afraid of a "freak" occurrence where the PTO might engage accidentally. I wouldn't do electrical wiring on live wires.

I do both when needed and practical.

There's a "Park position"???

Yes. Here's the shift pattern for my M7060. My ancient John Deere 2020 is the same way - Park position in the tranny for when you get off the tractor. Neither tractor has a "Parking Brake" of any sort.

I see headlines like this one, and almost always assume it's either an elderly operator (most often), or someone very young and inexperienced. It's always a bit more of a shock when you read the guy was in his 40's or 50's, where one is less likely to be affected by mobility issues or lack of experience.

Every case is unique, so not making any assumptions here, just saying it went against the assumptions that often come out of such news headlines.

Like working around a young horse, always be ready to move out of the way.
Keep your head on straight, eyes open, and be safe. If you think it's dangerous it's probably deadly.

I relate to that; I bought an 8 month old Hafflenger stud. I was working with him to lead and follow me. I felt the lead rope tighten up, turned around just in time to be under him rearing and walking toward me.
I sided-stepped and his hooves missed my head. That was my fault, I wasn't paying attention, and nearly got me killed or badly injured.

I worked with a few bad horses in my day. One I remember would bite at me when groomed. One day I saw him coming at my back side in the shadows and met his mouth with a hard bristled brush. I continued to set him up , and punish him like that until he was sure I had eyes in the back of my head. :D
