I use this camera daily. This is the cheapest price I have seen in a while for it. Figure i throw it out there. I use it as much as my volt meter anymore. resolution is very high, plugs into the phone, and allows you take pictures, highest temperature etc. Really helps quickly diagnose issue, stuff that would take minutes takes seconds to find, like hot wires , bad insulation etc. I initially thought it might be a toy. I literally use it weekly with projects.

some photo's of it in use attached.

any questions let me know

Those are fun. I borrowed my son's camera to locate a bee colony that moved into the rafter space between my basement and the floor above. Made it easy to locate the problem spot before I started dropping drywall from the ceiling.

I never thought it would be as useful as it is, I use it for everything under the sun. shocking how accurate it can see the temp difference, it shows up well for even 1 degree difference

It looks like a USB-C connector, but doesn't show a great view of it, and the Chingrish text does not say. Is it USB-C?

yes, this model is for android, uses USB-C and has an extension cable for USB-C in case it doesn't fit, and or you want to move the camera independent of the phone

That link is directed to Amazon.ca for me. I assume you are using Amazon.com … what’s the price on Amazon.com?

I have played with one a couple times, and considered buying one, but haven't. I could see some uses, but not "needs", so I will hold off. I'm sure the prices will come down more over time. I also think it would be more practical with a viewer, then a dongle to a phone.

I got a free Endoscope, with a cheap viewer, and that is nice, so you don't risk your $1200 phone positioning it

These things used to be like 1k 400+. I am not sure how much lower they are going to go. This is a thermal camera, doesn't work like an endoscope, this is for seeing temperature differences. It comes with an extension cable so you can position where you want.

I have had a cheaper Seek thermal that plugs into the phone for years now. You can see what tubes in this radiator are clogged at a glance.

I have been thinking about getting one for my iPhone for a while. But i am afraid of what i might find in this leaky house.
you do find disappointing things. my bedroom has issues, in the hardest part of the attic to reach

When the wind blows at more than 10mph, I can feel air movement from my electrical outlets.
That can't be good.

I have several potential uses for a thermal camera but wonder if it would be sensitive enough for one possible use. I want to have realistic expectations.
I think I have a squirrel and or mice in the attic. I want to trap them and then repair any damage they might have caused being their nest with either damaged or loose insulation or damaged or eaten wires.
The size of the mouse and nest, as well as the possible location within the insulation make me think they would be too small for the thermal camera to find / pinpoint.
I think the squirrel and nest as well as the damage caused would be larger, so easier for the camera to detect.
The other question I have is where would I get the best results… from inside or outside (or the attic)? Part of the answer depends on where the nest is and how much heat or cold is coming through.
I’d appreciate any comments and thoughts, especially if you’ve used a thermal camera for this purpose.
Thanks

You would likely be able to pin point the nest with a thermal camera from the urine soaking into the drywall cieling, if it's not a single/brand new nest.

its not an xray machine, while it can see through walls to a degree, it will not be able to see far, generally only whats touching it unless the temp difference is extreme, like a wire under load. it will see rafters beams etc, but if the nest is like 3 feet inside from the outside roof, its unlikely.

if the nest is exposed and on top, you may be able to see it, from the inside scanning around. it will show my hand print on a wall for a brief amount of time.

Sounds like my present house in Virginia. With the gusts we have been having the last few days I might be able to fly a small kite inside. But the heat doesn't run constantly and the living room is staying a good 58 to 60 deg. F. (winter temp).
