Bought a tv through best buy on Monday through a cyber Monday deal. Has not shipped yet. They do not price price match on that day just fyi but will post price match after. On Tuesday I found the same tv on amazon for $433 less. Did a chat conversation with a best buy rep, not phone, because I like a paper trail. Sent the rep the link to the Amazon tv. After a few minutes they came back and confimed the price, congratulated me on the savings, the let me know it could take up to 10 days to process the refund. Gave me the case id and said our goodbyes.

Today I recieve a notification that the pricematch was attempted to be processed today and denied because the tv through amazon was higher than their price. Well today at the time of processing it is no longer on sale, however at the time of the request and approval it was. Finally gave up after a lot of back and forth online. They want to refund me the $2 differnce in the price as of today, not the $433 at the initial day of request and approval.

I will probably head to a brick and mortar store with my printed documentation and speak to a manager to see if they are any help in person. I should have just cancelled the order with Best buy and reordered at the time through Amazon. Rant over and hopefully help someone else if you are thinking of price matching with best buy instead of canceling.

My opinion Best Buy is generally a pretty shady operation, they do have some pretty good deals sometimes

After 2 hours and 2 different agents this morning I supposedly have the original price match approval re-submitted. We will see. Had to escalate to a supervisor to make any headway. Apparently after approving the price match and even giving you a case id it can then take up to 10 days to process. Once it moves to processing they once again verify the price before issuing the refund. In my case the discount on amazon was removed between the approval on the 3rd and processing on the 5th. This makes no sense to me as prices are constantly changing. If I had not kept copies of the original chat transcript showing the agent did in fact verify the price and approve it on the 3rd this would have never been resolved.

When I decided on the TV I wanted, I went to Best Buy to look at the quality of the picture in person. They had it on sale for a decent price, but while I was in the store, talking to the Sales Guy, I looked up the price at Sams Club. It was a couple hundred dollars less, for the exact same TV. He said that they do not match any membership type stores. So I went to Sams and bought the TV there.

Seems kind of crazy to me, but I almost never buy anything from Best Buy, even though I go into their store to look at what they have in stock.

I could have got it through Nebraska furniture mart or Amazon and not had to price match however the selling point for me was Best Buy offered free delivery, wall mounting, and setup. Normally I would do tbis myself but this is a 100" tv replacing our projector and weighs 230 lbs with the crated packaging. The idea of not having to move or mount it was appealing.

That's huge!!! I mounted an 85 inch TV for a client, but he had to help me pick it up. I've never even seen one as big as yours.

You probably got a good deal even considering the higher price if it included delivery and setup. I hope most of that weight is package - 230# would pull my walls down :)

Specs show the actual TV outside of packaging is 162 lbs.

I've had damage from renters mounting TV's... pulling out lath and plaster and drywall damage...

At least I seldom go into a rental these days and find the carpet has been pulled up to run speaker wire...

Installed a 65 at work and needed to use the 24 inch channel to pick up the tin foil metal studs and expanding anchors through the studs...

Boss was happy to have it where she wanted it...

All the mounting instructions say masonry or wood stud only... don't have either in a metal stud building.

Mine is wood stud and closed cell foam so pretty solid and straight forward for the mount. I just need to make sure the guys doing the install are center of stud and predrill before running the lags into the studs so they don't spilt the wood, especially on a tv this heavy.

Their extended warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on though. I haven't purchased anything from them for a couple years now.

Good to know. I declined the warranty but usually buy them on appliances, fridge, washer, dryer, etc since the new ones all seem to be junk. Hopefully tv's haven't gone the same direction. Besides our projector I haven't purchased a tv other than some cheap ones for the kids bedrooms in years. Still using our 65" panasonic plasma for our living room purchased in 2012.

And the frustration continues. Here is the email just recieved from best by in regards to the price match that has now been approved via chat twice. Keep in mind the price online is no longer the lower price that is was on the 3rd.

So you might have had to spend the price difference on hiring it delivered, installed and setup.

Problem is I would have cancelled on the 3rd and ordered from amazon had I know they would later deny the price match. For $400 I would have installed myself. Just get really tired of dealing with incompetent online company reps.

I got caught in that once, from then on I took a screenshot of the sale webpage with my phone.

Ive got a copy. Just dealing with the corporate online nonsense. Twice now they have approved it then a day or 2 later a different department doing the processing denies it.
