When? Time of the year and where? I live and travel there a lot. I don’t recall seeing that happen. Are you sure they were harvestable soy beans and not cover crops or residual new growth?
I saw this in northeast Arkansas, eastern Missouri and southeastern Illinois. It was in the fall. I’m thinking 2018/19. Can’t remember the year. I saw many mature fields full of soybeans being turned under. I actually stopped and looked at the beans. This was during the height of the China embargo when they bought soybeans from Brazil. Much of the huge Midwestern grain industry is grown for export markets; far more than what the U.S. market demands.

Gee Mike/Florida, you seem to know how to run a country, maybe you should throw your name in the hat in 2028...

Woke up this morning to read that the Mexican President has agreed to stop the migrants crossing into the US through her country.
Nice if real. Where did you read that?

Another problem is that the population replacement in the US has fallen below replacement for more than a generation now. That is too long to turn around with higher birthrates, and has caused all kinds of economic projections to take a dive.

The US is going to have to make up for the downturn from somewhere ... if not with immigration from neighbors, with whom?

Ohh, flattery! (Thank you!)

Actually, I have ZERO desire to be active in politics. I do, however occasionally do some consulting for local governments. (Sometimes I even get paid for it, not a lot and no trips to Hawaii, but whatever.)

What I see is that politicians have a tendency to go "Ready, fire, aim!" and then scurry about madly trying to fix the problems they caused (and blame it on someone else).

I try to work under the theory of "Ready, aim, fire!" and before that, take a good hard look at whether that is even necessary. Frequently it is not.

From time to time they listen to me . . . not that they DO anything as a result, but sometimes I have some small input into their decisions.

Do have a happy Thanksgiving, when the biggest problem we collectively face is trying not to eat too much!

Best Regards,
Mike/Florida

Where?
Well, now that's about what one would expect.

A good Thanksgiving News Recipe is to take one issue each of the NY Post & NY Times, blend well, and divide into equal servings.

I think people conflate immigration, with illegal immigration. Immigration is great. A steady flow of people TRYING to avoid being detected, is not.

My favorite pilot/student I have ever flown with, came here from Iraq, when he was 18, alone, barely knowing the language. Went to an aviation university, 6 years later he was an airline pilot in the US and the most humble and thankful American I have ever met. Most citizens could learn a lot from people like him.
