Does your rv have its own battery and, if so, how long does it take to transfer charge, from the vehicle, a low battery on the rv with the 8's?
the 8 run is to the distribution panel not to the alternator. the alternator is 4 gauge wiring to the battery. that only gets up into the 30's for a short time

you have to understand charge rate tends to drop quite rapidly. I also don't run the rv battery very very low.

at the end of the day for a group 27 etc, your looking at prolly 2+ hours for 80% charge, then 2 more to get full. Again these are just rough estimates on mine.

A lot of variables here. Including, but not limited to, the output of the alternator, the size of all the wiring involved, and the battery capacity of the RV.

For example, a basic car of mine is on a maintainer with desulfation whenever it it isn't driven. The other day I drove about 100 miles then an hour later back to home.

Afterwards I couldn't help but notice that its battery stayed at a higher voltage for over two days. Moral of the story (which I already knew) is that it takes weeks on a maintainer, or a few hundred miles of driving, to make a battery happy.

So the 8 run is from the RV battery to its distribution panel? For the group 27 etc you mention, what is the charging source? Vehicle battery only?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand.

the rv has 2 charging sources. the alternator from the engine with 4 gauge, then at the distribution panel. there is a 120v 4 stage battery charger, that does charge over the dual 8gauge wires.

amperage is verified with a shunt at the battery.
