Yanmar F15D
Hi all,

New here. I recently bought a yanmar F15D and I'm having trouble finding information on it. Just wanting service information around what oil grade/spec I should use for the engine and transmisson. I'm in Australia so I was leaning towards using 15w40 for the engine, I just want to be more cautious with the trans. I've heard you can also use engine oil in there aswell? As it doesn't damage the wet brakes.

Cheers.

Do not use 15W40 with the Japanese tractor engines, especially Yanmar.
The so called American Iron tractors were made for it, not the Asian tractors. Asia machines are built to JIS standards. 15W40 retains the heat longer in the engine on JIS type engines. In time of heat and working the engine hard, the heads begin to warp. Also the engine runs poorly and black soot becomes an issue.

5W30 winter, 10W30 summer, extreme heat SAE 30.
Hydraulic fluid is JDM J20C (Hygard) or TF500A.

If you need the manuals for free, they are on the YTOG.

Cheers for the reply mate.

I've found a gulf western UTTF oil which meets the j20C grade so I'll look at getting some of that.

As for the engine oil, I'm assuming you mean oil that meets the JASO requirements for jap produced engines? If a 15w40 oil was to meet JASO DH-1, which I'd assume would be the grade these engines fall under Would it not be compatible? I was more just looking into operating temp ranges more than potential heat soak

Would you suggest mineral over semi synthetic? Something with a high tbn, ash and zinc %?

Do you have the Rotella brand out there?

The same engines in the YM, F and FX series are in the John Deere machines.

Would this oil be suitable? Listed as CF4 but not for DH2
Looks very doable.

So, you can not go to some truck stop or farm store locally and just buy a few jugs of Diesel 10W30 as your summer is coming soon? Seems so strange overall.

I can run out to so many places and find the diesel 10W30 of oil being plentiful. The 5W30 not so easily.

You can, but alot of the 30w they sell is either low grade CD, full synthetic that lacks the required SAPS or is sold in bulk (44gal) outside of transmissons and lawn equipment it isn't really a common grade here, this is amplified by the fact I live remote so there is no 5 min drive to the shops. I think I'll manage with the oil I sent above, I can almost guarantee the oil in it now isn't 30w so anything will be an improvement.

Thanks for all the help mate, greatly appreciated
