I have a 1987 John Deere 950 with front end loader that I am looking to replace all the hydraulic hoses due to age. I have searched online quite a bit and I have not had luck finding the answers I need. Were these hoses standard lengths, and fittings that I can just order from somewhere or will I need to get all custom hoses made? Does anyone know where I can get hoses made up? And a rough idea on how much a job like this might cost.

Really boils down to I have been debating moving on from this tractor and buying something newer or sinking some money into it to make it last a long time.

Thanks in advance

You can try a local hydraulic shop or you can order custom hoses from here:

DiscountHydraulicHose.com
Is there a dummies guide for what size hose’s I have and what kind of fittings I’d need? I imagine most 80’s John Deere’s are pretty standard?

DHH (linked above) has a guide you can download and print.

The hoses will not be a 'standard' lenght, and may have a combination of fittings depending on where they are used.

Replacing all of them if they are not leaking is really not needed other than for your peace of mind, some hoses can last many decades before needing replacement. Finding a local shop you could just take them all to so they can match may be cheaper in the long run, get one or two lengths or fittings wrong and all savings from buying online may be lost. Many NAPA stores will make hoses if you have one local to you.
