You Know You Are Old When

I’ve been at the beach all week, Longboat Key Florida. I’d say you’re getting old when you see a cute 25 year old walking the beach with her mom, and you spend all your focus on mom… but I’ve honestly had that problem since I was at least 20. :D

YKYAO when you realize that the person you are rambling on to about something is just being patient and polite by not interrupting or stopping the conversation. I was going on like Captain Quigg on the witness stand the other day, and the young guy I was babbling to was just nodding his head and acting interested.

I guess you are REALLY old when you don't realize it's happening...

I wish more old people would realize they are doing this -
But everybody wants to tell their stories.... that's cool

You know your old when the portions become too big when dining out.

Who would have thought?

Yup, used to go to an "all you can eat" rib shack about once a month. My son and I would pig out on 6 or so GOOD racks of ribs, each.
Thursday last went to Outback, could just comfortably finish half of a 14oz Rib-eye (w/ salad and a sweet potato). Made a good night snack of the rest.

/edit - don't want to need to go back on the diet I had last February. I lost (and have kept off) about 30 lbs. I combined bio and physical - for bio I got RSV, for physical I broke a tooth and had to get a 3 tooth bridge and for a while was limited to "protein" type whey drinks.

I’ve got a few of those and as a kid Fess Parker was the best and Red Skelton just had a way with kids and presented my brother with a charcoal drawing he still has.

Through dad I met a lot of the sports figures especially in boxing/boxing fans but when your 5 or 6 or even 10 it did not make a big impression like Daniel Boone.

In kindergarten playing catch with an Oakland Raider was a big deal to the big kids and not so much for me although his daughter was my best friend in Kindergarten.

Family was from Louisiana and being in California I had never heard a Southern accent.

Funny the things you remember when you are old.
I'm betting the charcoal drawing becomes a family heirloom. Yeah, there are certain memories that will never fade, and are mine alone.

For a long time it was just thumbtacked on the wall of my brothers bedroom along with posters of Cobras and such…

Not much in the line of collectibles growing up…

A few Native American Washoe tribe baskets and great grandpas swords… one from the Moro 1898 Spanish American War and one from WWI

My guess is after me whatever is around will be cleared out quick with the focus on getting real estate sold.

The family has been clear the nephew and nieces will not be occupying any home in Oakland.
