Every year the June snow is here for a couple of weeks. Flying and drifting when the wind blows. Yes our native Rio Grande cottonwood is loaded again. Sure makes a mess on the porch and patios, but there’s no use in cleaning up until the cotton is gone from the tree.

Cottonwood came out here last week. Some yards looked like snow. This week I get to go into precarious spaces to clean out condenser fins with a brush. ;)

I’m going to wait until it all drops from the tree. Not using AC yet, but that’s coming soon. I’m thinking that I better go put the winter cover back on the compressor until cotton season is over.

Oh, Cottonwood.

A few years ago I thought I could miss the winter snow by shooting across the country on I-40. But unfortunately I hit snow in either Arizona or New Mexico. I think that might have been the only place I hit snow all the way to Missouri.

I know it can get really cold here in the early AM. But it darn well better not be real snow. No cottonwood in the immediate area.

It's 100% Ponderosa pines. Like your cottonwoods - my pines are in bloom right now. Everything is coated in a Limey-Green "dust".

The wind blows - the gusts are defined by their ghostly green hue.

We usually have the same problem but this year there is a lot less "snow" than normal. The only reason I can come up with is two late killing frosts we had this spring.

I live 7 miles north of I-40, and yes the plows can get busy there.

This time of year when I work in the woods, my clothes and vehicle gets covered with the green/gold ponderosa pine pollen. Fortunately I’m not allergic to that. I do have about 20 ponderosa pine planted as a windbreak near my house.
