I finally got around to it couple of months ago and replaced the secondary fuel filter on my F3060

Other members have done it and posted in TBN - thank you for the photos, they were helpful!

Obviously the factory setup works OK since my mower already has about 3700 hours, but I just did not like how there were two identical (probably 50 Micron?) filters in-series, one before the electric fuel pump and another one after it.

Nice install. I had to add an additional electric lift pump to my Racor install on my ZD1211. After bleeding the system the engine would run full throttle, but would starve for fuel when under load (one pump). The original pump has 1300 hours on it... I wonder if it was just getting a little weak? If I get (real) bored I may try running it with one new pump.

Thanks,
Yes it's a pretty fine filter - mine has been OK so far and there is quite a bit of "extra" fuel returning back to the tank when engine is idling, which is very easy to check on this model.
No easy way to check the return flow when mowing and the engine is under load.

Arto,

It also looks like it would be easier to change than the hose barb filter. I like it.

Both my M9000's have them and my soon to be coming used F series will have one as well. Just good fuel insurance in my view.

Nice work.

Where did purchase your Racor at and what part number is it?

Nice work.

Thanks,
It is Racor 120 series with R12S (2 micron) filter, and they are easy to find at racorstore.com or marine parts store/supplier Bay, Amazon or etc.

Not sure where I bought mine since it's been sitting in a factory box on my garage shelve for many years.

There are many cheap almost identical looking Racor "clones", just be aware some of those seem to have a metric pipe-thread connections in the housing, which will complicate installation a little if you need to use standard 90* elbows etc. like you see in my photo.

Actually, I used IFJF bases with Racor filters and the IFJF bases aren't metric pipe thread but SAE. Heck of a lot cheaper than the Racor bases are btw. Bought mine on Amazon and all of mine have a fill plug on the top of the base so bleeding out air isn't an issue. I just use a Turkey Baster and fill them up and put the fill plug back in.

The IFJF bases accept the Racor filters as well as the clear bowls. In fact I used the supplied with IFJF bowl because mine came with a drain cock built in. Got one on each of my M9's and one on my diesel pickup truck and will soon have one on my F20 when I get it.

It's a Chinses copy but perfect in every way and the IFJF bases come with all the necessary fittings as well. I bought them about 2 years ago and I believe I paid under 30 bucks for each.

I see that Amazon is now offering genuine RACOR filters in various micron ratings down to 2 micron. Just enter RACOR filters in the search bar.

Just bought another IFJF base and a couple genuine Racor filters.

The IFJF clear bowls fit the Racor elements as well.

What amazes me is the negative reviews. People install them on gas powered engines and then the clear bottom bowl falls apart. For diesel only folks, not gasoline but then I guess people aren't too bright.

I put one of those on the Kubota BX I used to have which had the same crappy little factory filters you show.

Well misapplications happen sometimes when people do not pay attention and just assume something!
Many automatically / immediately blame the equipment.

RACOR certainly makes good filtration for marine gasoline applications which should work fine for any gasoline engine:

Obviously, the bowl is made from something that gasoline won't degrade unlike the diesel only ones. People don't bother reading the 'fine print' today and then whine when something fails.

Never had issue one with any gas powered motor in anything I have. The inline pleated filters seem to do a fine job in that respect. Diesel is another story, especially with equipment you fill the tank from the top or let the fuel sit in a half empty tank for a long period of time.

Arto... Did you have to install an extra 12 volt fuel pump to insure adequate fuel flow? Reason I ask is, I now have the IFJF base with a 2 micron Racor 2 micron spin on fuel filter on it that I'll mount where yours is mounted at. If you did install a second fuel pump, where did you put it and what brand and delivery pressure? OEM Kubota electric pumps are stupid expensive even with my employee discount.

I would check Facet brand small 12V fuel pumps for replacement if new pump was ever needed.

The original fuel pump has been perfectly adequate, and in F3060 it's easy to check the excessive fuel flow returning back to the fuel tank, but I have only checked it with the engine idling.

I just did over two hours of mowing yesterday and it worked fine.

PS.
It's easy to switch to Racor 12T (10 Micron) if pump capacity ever became a problem.

I have a few of the 10 micron filters on the shelf as I run them on my pair of Kubota M9's. Thanks for the information. Was going to buy a second electric fuel pump but I'll adopt a wait and see attitude at this point.

I like these spin on filters you guys have plumbed in (y)

I run a 10micron 3qt spin on filter with hydroZorb membrane for moisture on my 550gal tank.

Both mowers & 3 tractors gets filled from this tank weekly.

This setup was EXPENSIVE but I hadn’t replaced a fuel filter on any 5 units in 4yrs.

According to what I've read, the IFJF 10 micron filters filter as good or better than the more expensive Racor filters and actually have more filtering material (pleats) than the Racor's do at a substantially lower price. I'd say if you can overlook the fact they are Chinese, they seem to be a better (less expensive) alternative.

Been using my new / used 2820 side discharge deck and it's a mowing fool. Even mowed around the perimeters of my hay fields with it. Saves me getting too close with my disc mower and snagging a fence posI always mow in low range so the deck don't bounce around at all. Mowing, at least in my view should be a relaxed thing, not a hurry up thing. It will throw clippings about 10-15 feet if I want to but when I mow the edges of the hayfields, I point the discharge towards the fence line.

I see you have some galvanized fittings on your setup. I've read that galvanized fitting will shed the galvanic coating over time and will adversely impact high pressure fuel pump performance.

It’s possible.
The fittings on left side is aluminum.

Aluminum must be fine to use since manufacturers use it in places where there is Diesel fuel.

I also remember having read something about galvanized fittings & Diesel fuel not being good combination so I've used brass fittings over the years.

For me 55 gallons usually will last 10 months, whereas some of you guys can probably use it up in one day...
