I am not familiar with either brand but I do know that the Branson brand was absorbed and rebranded as TYM, so TYM essentially has two brands they sell (Branson and TYM). From what I can tell the 4820 CH and the 5520 CH are Branson and the 494 and 574 are TYM tractors. Most of the people I have talked to have good things to say about both brands. Does one stand out from the other? I am looking for a 50HP tractor with FEL for brushhogging and grading gravel drives. Is one a more basic tractor and one more of a high end version? Please educate me. I do not have a dealer closer than 2 hours from me but if the price is right and the quality is similar to Kioti I would certainly consider either of them. Thanks

This recent thread goes over some of the diferences between the two brands: 474 v 494

I have owned both and can't complain about either. My Branson probably had 1,000 hours on it when I sold it.
My TYM 674 has about 65 hours.
My TYM does not use DEF, I like that. My Branson didn't either, but it was considerably less hp.
My TYM does not have a temp gauge, I thought that odd.

Both are really fully optioned tractors. The /20 models have a smaller footprint and all of the weight of the 494/574. The /20s are the heaviest built units in their class considering their size. The /20 hydros also have a 4 range transmission in lieu of the 3 range on the 494/574. They are very similar otherwise and share the Kukje diesel engine. I was personally not impressed with the Kioti build quality for the price. I had the choice between them, LS and Branson/TYM. The

Was there anything specific about the Kioti you did not like. I have not looked at them in person. I assume you went with the TYM tractor. I have researched the LS brand also ( I have a CAse dealer in my town which i think is LS rebranded) and was not real impressed with them.

Kioti we're all faded and had a lot of surface rust on the lots. Rear transmission and axle carriers seemed less robust. You know how you can mount a tractor and drive it and it just feels solid? I didn't get that from the Kioti. I came close to buying an NX until I saw they had a known issue with the hydro transmission and that was why so many low hour units were on lots of at auction. I bought the 4820, yes, after driving my options. My dealer was amazing. Delivered to me for no charge and dropped the price the day of delivery because he found another promotion. I called, he ordered no money down, unpaid him when we pulled it into my barn. Stand up guys

I would take a hard look at the 5520 if I were looking for a 50hp unit.

Up here we go with cabs due to the weather. I like the 4 speed hydro. If I was buying today, it would be a cabbed 5520 CH (cabbed hydro) with 2 rear remotes and a 3rd function.

Do you have any issues with the industrial tires when working in the fields and mowing?

I have a Branson (312 hours) and love it! I have worked it pretty hard and it has never let me down. No real issues other than a broken weld on the SSQA on the front end loader, taken care of under warranty. It was an obviously poor penetration weld. I was really working it though, luckily I exposed that weakness early in our relationship and they took care of it. I had issues with my DPF clogging at about 200 hours, they gave me a new remanufactured can for it. If it ever happens again I will just take care of it myself, if you know what I mean.;)Luckily with a Branson you can do that. I do have some rust in a seam on top of my rear fenders. I suspect my tractor sat in the elements for a while before if came to me, right now it is not an issue. I will fix it one of these days. I do worry a little bit about resale value dropping off for the Branson brand due to the buyout, but like Willie Nelson says, "There ain't nothing I can do about it now"! I guess I will just have to keep it for the rest of my life.

No. I also don’t have ballasted tires, which would provide more weight. It is a stock, no ballast unit and I don’t have traction issues. Someday I’ll probably fill the rear tires, but at this time I don’t see the need. I’ve also never needed to use the FWD.
