You guys have no idea how giddy we are here with a near normal forecast with lake snow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lake effect snow showers continue along the northerly wind belts this morning. Then, a clipper moves through the region tomorrow with scattered snow showers. Big changes are coming this weekend. A strong system is still on track to bring widespread snow to the U.P. with strong winds on Saturday. Behind it, a trough in the jetstream digs into the Great Lakes. It will bring a cold blast of air, and temperatures will dive below normal.
Make sure those dogs get outside and in on the fun. we'll need photos. 🐶

We got about 10" of wet heavy snow but no rain. It was the perfect amount to pack down on the gravel drive. Now we are waiting for the next snow to hit Fri/Sat and that will be about a foot with high winds. The deep freeze comes after that so the snow we have won't melt for at least a month. Keep the moisture coming.

Waterford-near Duck Pond.

Not far from me...
We half a pretty decent view of the Gap, and after a few more trees taken down, the wife will be happier.

Yeah, if we go down our road 1/4mile I see burke. We are on the east side of the ridge that runs along 5a. Sheffield windmills are directly across from us. Hiked Bald many times, just don;t have it anymore to climb higher than second tier of watch tower there.

No snow in our forecast until Monday but the cold temps have arrived. -20C now and supposed to get to -31C tonight. With wind chill, those temps are -29C to -37C. Good time to be in the house or in the shop both of them have wood stoves going and I moved a bunch of wood into those buildings in preparation for the cold snap, so I didn't have to be outside moving wood around in these temps. Sipping my morning coffee now and when done will go get the wood stove in the shop fired up again.

In Western Illinois we are forecasted to be in the 3 to 5 inches of snow and also the possibility of some ice. It’s a very narrow zone where it’s goes from nothing to a foot of snow and we are on the edge. Sunday into next week below zero temperatures are expected. I’ve had enough fun, I’m ready for spring.

We may get safe ice by the end of next week. :)

We'll be looking for a new video this season. I'm pleased to see that more people seem to be embracing rear pull/inverted/hybrid snowblowers in the states. Videos like your help dispel the myths.

From our locale TV station TV6.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - According to the National Weather Service, Lake Superior is much warmer than it usually is this time of year.

Meteorologists say the average near-surface temperature for mid-January is in the mid-thirties, but the lake is around 41°F right now. The National Weather Service says the warm temperatures could bring extra lake-effect snow in the next week.

Matt Zika, a National Weather Service meteorologist, says the lake’s temperatures could be back to normal soon.

“Given how cold it’s going to be with daily high temperatures probably not even getting out of the single digits from Sunday through the middle of next week, it won’t take very long for the water temperature to cool down close to where it typically would be at this time in the month of January,” said Zika.

We were lucky I'd say - we're 60 miles up river from you and only got 1-1/2" before it started raining. It's all slush now. How much did you get down there from last Mondays storm ??
Here in northern N.H. accumulations were all over the place in the last 2 storms. We're on the western side of the state and we got ~9" Saturday night, but only ~3" on Tuesday. Across the state in Berlin it was just the opposite...almost nothing Saturday, but over a foot of heart attack cement Tuesday. We're only talking 30-ish miles apart.
