Well morning to all;
Quite the weather guessing game going on today and tomorrow around here.
We have flood watches and wind advisory's.
The local reporting stations at lower altitudes are in the low 20's and hi teens this morning, the ones just a few hundred feet higher are mid to upper twenties. Mine is indicating 28 at this time.
The wind is quite breezy but nothing to bother at this time. The forecasts are all over the place but most of them seem to be trending downward from the earlier the sky is falling screaming.
But to be sure I'll top of tractor fuel tanks and back the generator up next to the house and in range of the transfer cord, then fill my coal buckets up while the weather is decent for winter.
All of you getting sick, get well. We have had some possible covid exposures this fall and winter and have had some snuffles and coughs but still motoring along.
Stay well, stay safe in the projected weather.

Good morning all. 24F at 6am in Beautiful Northern Nevada.

Currently a Winter Storm Warning in the Sierra Mountains. Due to schedule I must travel over Donner Summit today (elevation 7,227.) Try to avoid mountain+weather driving but need to get to CA today.

Biggest risk is someone young and stupid driving too fast for conditions. Now that I am old and stupid I can say that.

btw I love the many bird pictures.

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 6:30AM. Generally cloudy. High 51F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph.
Radar is currently showing rain overhead, but not enough to show in the gauge yet. Winds were very calm yesterday, but now are picking up. Weather guessers are predicting rough going in the mountains, PH, be careful out there.

Managed to get a pretty heavy piece of equipment off the floor and moved a few inches yesterday. That first inch up is always the hardest. Read somewhere that hardwood wedges were helpful, so cut a pair of them from some oak plank I had laying around. Slicked them up with bee's wax, and they worked perfectly. Then got the nose of my longest pry bar under, and up she went. Got it far enough from the wall that I can get the hydraulic dolly under that side, but first I want to put new rubber on the bearing surfaces of the dollies. I didn't do it last time and they were really hard on the paint of the machine. U-Haul has a nice 12' heavy duty drop gate trailer for about $35 a day + insurance, so that looks like the way to go from here on. Just need a few days of clear weather for the trip, something not in the current 10-day.

Spent a couple hours looking for a new primary care physician down south, still without any luck. There are plenty of doctors in the 60+ age category, but the last thing I want is to have to go looking again when they retire in a year or two. All of the younger ones are no longer taking new patients. Today I'll widen the search to include Santa Barbara city and see if that helps.

Got the backpack sprayer out and got through about 10 gallons of off brand RM43. Spent a lot of time looking for the two 2.5 gallon jugs of real RM43 I know I have, but they must both be down in Orcutt. Got through the last gallon just as the sun was setting, with just enough time to enjoy some Mozart on the back patio.

A fifteen minute walk from the new digs there's a pretty good used media store (we used to call 'em record stores, and this one has literally tons of old vinyl in stock). I went shopping there with some friends last trip, and came away with a double handful of CDs for the collection. At checkout, the owner starts piling on more CDs for free. Odd things like singles, that Mozart I just mentioned, even some pop, which I'll pass along to someone that likes that sort of thing. They got a nice write up recently in the local paper, and I hope they can stick around for a good, long time.

Another inside day stoking the woodstove and cleaning up some paperwork. And packing. Always more packing...

Good morning! Low of 11°, heading towards 30°. I don't think the snow is going anywhere soon.....
70% chance for more snow on Thursday to go on top. No predictions for amounts yet.... This system is what is giving RNG rain, then heading this way.

Mostly, glad you're back home safely. Long drive for sure.

Rip, hang in there. Prayers and hopes things turn around for you.

Wng, beautiful pics as usual. Nice hikes for sure. Neat to meet someone so similar.

Ron, beautiful pic of the woodpecker. We had 2 show up to get a drink from the pond yesterday. We think a breeding pair, at least a male and female. Haven't heard any pecking, so don't know where they are roosting.

My "good" knee started hurting yesterday, only to find a big bruise on the side last night. Don't remember banging it ---- one would think that hitting it hard enough to cause a bruise would cause pain enough to know that you did....

Don't have anything on the agenda for today.... might take the opportunity to do the grocery shopping.

Everyone have a great day!

68°F and 0 rain

Could be interesting day. Forecast had us getting hit by same system that wreaked so much havoc on Oahu yesterday but not seeing it yet.

At this point planning on resuming mowing I started yesterday with the hope of getting the Laupahoehoe end done. All bets off if it starts raining.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon
Its raining and going to continue to through the night. Expecting close to 2”.

Still sick, spent the entire day in bed. Took a 3rd negative COVID test, but I’ve got a persistent fever.
Sore throat and congestion has passed as well as the coughing, but I still have the fever and chills, and no sense of taste.

Good Evening Guys,
Busy day at work ! I stayed fairly dry until about 2 pm and the it started coming down at a pretty good clip ! So last 2 hours of work I got a bit wet ! Probably didn’t help my cough and chest congestion!
Dennis, I think I am into this thing for 3 weeks now also !

PopG, hope you feel better soon !

Raining pretty hard now, which means I will be vacuuming some water puddles in the basement tomorrow! Hopefully we don’t lose power, then it gets dicey hooking up the generator in pouring rain ! Not a fan of that ! 😩

Hope all have a good evening, and hopefully you don’t lose power! 🙏

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 11.5C and it's presently 'hotted' up to 27.1C, fairly clear with some wind.

Yesterday I made a quick trip into town; expected mail, 'diesel' engine oil (A$63 for 5ltr) and a stop off at the local hardware store for a rattle-can of bright yellow paint for a 'project'.

I then got 'stuck into' draining the 4105's hydraulic and engine oil... I'm glad that there were no "little-ones" around to here my 'persuasive' language regarding the removal of the hydraulic filter cap. ;) I've let everything drain over night and will replace the fluids this arvo.

It's also 'into town' day for groceries.

That's about it, take care all.

Why can't you hook up the genny when it is dry and just go out and start it when the power goes out?
That is the way mine is set up. Burried the cable in conduit because the genny is in a tin shed 25' away from the house. Cable stays plugged into the house all the time.

Good Evening Bill,
Good point ! I guess I’m just optimistic that I’m not going to lose it ! But if I knew that for sure it was going out, then do like you say and hook it up and just tarp it until it’s needed ! Something to think about in the future !! 🙏

In my case my wife’s car is parked at the hook up location, so I would just need to move her car !
