Been busy and trying to catch up.
Buppies, Prayers.
My KubVan has a VW Rabbit drivetrain, including the 52hp indirect injection 1.6L diesel. But it gets just under 30mpg. It might be lacking in aerodynamic properties.

Who would've thunk that 52hp would push that thing. Friend had a old rabbit diesel. Took about 1/2 a day to get up to 70mph. LOL. They put a turbo on it and it worked much better with about 8 lbs of boost.
Good morning! Low was 31°, been holding at 33° for the last 4 hours. Supposed to hit a high of 45°. Heavy wet fog now, chances for a few showers, then snow showers this evening..... may get up to an inch.
Low tonight dropping to 16° and a 30% chance of snow showers. Highs only in the 40's until Thursday, then into the 50's.
Leaves finally turning colors on all the trees, there were a couple 'early', but that was strange....

Good progress on the addition over the past weeks. Exterior shell complete, sealed to the elements. Rough electric done, half of the insulation done, should get the rest completed by tomorrow.
Then my favorite.... drywall ---- NOT! There is just something about drywall that I don't like.... can't tell what, just one of those things....
The son and GS will do all the lifting, so maybe I might start to like it better!

We went and saw our Granddaughter perform in her marching band yesterday in a regional competition that was held in Albuquerque. They made it to the state championship and are traveling to Pueblo Colorado today.
Lots of good bands performing.
Everyone have a great day!
Hope GD had a good day performing. Good progress too.
This is what I've heard.
one of our daughters that lost her job has gone through some difficult times to recover but things are looking up for her. Got hired at a rehab facility job and offered a job at a PGA golf club to start mid November. She also works at a restaurant as waitress. I don't know how she can keep all the balls in the air but will see. She is underwater on bills but she has a good attitude. She chaperoned a bunch of kids this weekend at a camp and sent us videos. We were hanging back in helping her to see how she would handle it
Prayers for her. I've wondered how you and wife have handled financial issues that kids have. If they can dig themselves out of a hole is best life lesson. But sometimes the burden seems too big and they will give up and not function.
Me too. It turned out really well on the ceiling of the basement kitchen.

Check, will you use this kitchen as your primary kitchen?
We usually do a Winter Caribbean cruise out of Galveston but because of the Estate settling and knee we have nothing planned yet.
Good Morning! 38˚F heading to 44˚ brisk North wind at 23 mph. We had 0.64" of rain since midnight. typing this as my knee is going up and down on the flex machine. I got my refill on pain pills yesterday and have started to taper down hoping they will last through rehab. I can have up to 12 per day (2 every 4 hours). Yesterday I just had 5. I should be fine with 5 today also even with PT coming this afternoon. I'm using the 3 wheeled walker even though I have not been approved, need the tray and basket.
Good job on the rehab.
I have the stainless plate ready to weld in after I remove the gearbox and spindles. And of course I’m sure that I’ll have to trim it to fit, as I made it slightly oversized.
Why stainless plate? It will probably rust where welded unless coated.. right?
Morning all, 40 going up to 49, cloudy, heading to our first freeze tonight.
Got MRI results back, not cancer, but no answer as to what is going on either.
Diet is mostly rice and veggies, but still not helping enough, frustrating.
Be well,
Prayers they figure you out, and treatment is available.
Kyle have you started working on the boat motor? I have not been out since my surgery, maybe today I can try to get in and out of the car for practice for tomorrow's Dr. apt. I did call the "farm" to find out how high the first step is on the Kubota and it is 18", so that height step up will be incorporated in my PT.
Cold here too, like 34F on back porch. The boat is on the back burner as a project. I have many other things I need to fix in my minimal spare time. I'm having extreme fatigue in my feet/legs/knees. Even the bottom of my feet. I don't believe I have circulatory problems. It might stem from driving 2 hours a day to work and back.
Was checking on the brick shell wall over the chestnut log wall and see that it is holding up after bracing it a couple of years ago. Over 200 years old. Using the old screw jack worked just fine.
All about leverage
Replacing it with siding can wait

I love seeing your engineering mind at work thru pictures. Compression therapy for a wall. How did you stake it to the ground to keep the base static?
Happy Birthday to son!
Helogabals, looks like you have a busy life too. Very interesting too. Thanks for sharing.
RNG, I remember the elderly couple who started skads of forest fires from dragging a wheel less trailer behind an RV in California. The road was lined with dead pine needles. I don't remember how it ended up, but they caused millions and millions of damage and may have faced criminal charges. I'm glad you didn't set the grove on fire, good thing the farmer had a firebreak. I don't like single wheel trailers unless it's all you have. When you have the trailer hooked up, lift the back end with your FEL, kick the tires, inspect tread and ball bearings for smoothness.
Still working on the Toyota, it has been quietly sitting and waiting for me to get time to work on her. I'm needing more of the plastic inner fender fasteners and the ones to attach the front clip/bumper cover back to the car. The sad thing is that Toyota used about 10 different types of fasteners to attach inner fenders and front clip. And they are not common to GM/Ford. They use 7mm and 10mm. Have some 7mm on order and was hoping for delivery today, but wifey says Wednesday.
Went to son's last football game on Halloween evening. Wife and I pray a lot for all the kids to not get severe injuries. The good Lord was watching over my son, when he was tackled from behind and his leg got twisted and lodged under him in a weird way during the tackle. The video is hard to watch. He fumbled and got up limping. Coach pulled him, but later went back in with a slight limp. It could've easily been a compound fracture with his ankle dislodged. I'm thankful.
Now son wants to play basketball. Off to buy some basketball shoes and a basketball. Told him this will be his Christmas present. he's good with it. Practice starts Tuesday 11/7 at 6:30 in the morning. I usually get up early enough to leave for work around 6:30, so I'll have to move my schedule up about 15 minutes. I'm not going to prod or wake him. He's either ready to go, or he will miss practice and get the ire of the coach. Interested to see how it unfolds.
Had son go spray a mix of sendero and remedy on the huisache. Hope it kills them.
Still need to mow the "back 15". Haven't knocked it down since May through the drought.
Popgadget's hardware store is the hot ticket.
Prayers for our team.
