30 to 68 and sunny again. Coffee hot, woodstove nice and warm.

Don, great you were back jogging after your heart attack. Wow, it's been over 11 years. Your diet is amazing.

Wag, glad you're having fun on that zero turn.

Needed to refill the diesel jug, so combined a dump run, and a hike at the battlefield forest for a triple play.
The other day while in HD, they had an early Black Friday deal...buy two Dewalt batteries with charger and carry bag, get a free tool...selected a leaf blower. Never had one or used one. Wow, I had to walk over and tell my rake we were breaking up.

I used the blower to move leaves away from obstacles so I could reach them with my mower. I bolted on my home-made mulching cover and went to town. After an hour, I had enough leaf dust and debris all over me, in my boots, and down my shirt. I wore an N-95 this time, which helped, but even with safety glasses, my eyes are burning. Glad it's only once, or twice a year that I do this.

Good Morning!!!! Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 6:00AM in Orcutt, CA.
Partly cloudy skies. High 82F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Bandages looked good under the white fishnet, Don, sorry they didn't work out. Maybe your knee is asking you to ease off a bit? Hope you get some relief now that the staples are gone.

My buddy and I got everything loaded for the trip south on Wednesday, including a 1775 lb. piece of equipment loaded on a rented tilt deck trailer I'd picked up that morning. Went easier than we thought. Got a comfortably early start yesterday on the trip down. Remembered to cancel the traction control on the van for the trip up the driveway, and made it up with no problem at all. It was smooth sailing until a tire on the trailer suffered a blow out about 2/3 of the way there, way out in the middle of nowhere. Shredded the tire, and sparks from the steel wheel and trailer axle dragging on the pavement started a grass fire at the side of the road. Fortunately the fire department was able to confine it to about a 1/4 acre, though we had to move the van and trailer a couple times to stay ahead of the flames. And there was a dirt road running parallel to the freeway that kept the fire out the adjacent pistachio orchard. There were thousands of acres of them in that part of the drive. Finally got a wrecker to come for the damaged trailer, and a driver from the rental company, Herc, to come over from Bakersfield with a replacement trailer. Transferred the load by the side of the road, in the dark, and finished the trip at about 11PM. The trailer rental was originally set up for a week so as to allow us to make several trips, but I don't think the single axle replacement trailer is up to the job, and I don't want a repeat of what happened yesterday. So we'll return that trailer to the Herc branch here today, and see if we can get a double axle tilt deck to take back with us for the next two runs. Can't wait to see the bill on this misadventure.

Come to think of it, Herc used to be called Hertz Equipment Rental, and the last trailer I rented from them had a blow out when I was dragging home the Kubota side-by-side. That trailer had two axles, so I was able to take off the bad wheel and get home. The grumbled something about charging me for the tire and I pointed out that it would not have been a problem if they hadn't put a cheap Chinese tire on the trailer to begin with.

Now just gotta get my buddy up outa bed without coming off like a slave driver...

TGIF gang.
At least you didn’t lost the load or damage the van —- or get hurt!
WOW!!!!!!!

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

22.1F going to mis 60s, sunny day forecasted.

Mom needed to do a supermarket run, so that became the plan for the day,n then we all went out for late lunch. Quick walk through antique stir across the street yielded a 16oz glass jar of 3/8 ball bearings for $7 — slingshot ammo! Good turnover in the shop since last visit where we got the steamer trunk, nice to see.

Don, toys arrived from auction yesterday, unboxed today. Will let the DLP equalize to house temps for another day before opening bag, don’t want any condensation issues! But everything looks good and intact, THANK YOU!!!!

took the backpack blower for a walk for about an hour, will likely have to do that again in about a week, but I think I got the biggest accumulation of leaves on this foray.

while at supermarket, I picked up a nice piece of top round for Yankee Pot Roast, it has been in the slow cooker all night, I will check it when getting Caffeinated in a few moments…

Plans for today are to go up to woodlot and stuff insulation into the roof and walls, and maybe get more boards up, depending. the studs are 2x4s on 2’ centers, so I had to to 27 miles to BigBoxOrange because BigBoxBlue 4 miles away didn’t have any. Bundle of R11 23”x93” batts is now $126. When I last bought them to insulate shed behind our house, they were about $39/bundle. It cost about the same to insulate out 20x20 shed with a 10/12 pitch roof 8 years ago as it does to insulate our 10x16 utility shed with a CONSIDERABLY smaller gambrel roof—- AND that includes using a bundle and a half leftover from the first insulation job! Best economy ever, Jack!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe, productive, restorative, blessed day!
