Post from yesterday ... which apparently got wiped out when Ibrahim was messing around:

Temp is 44F and dropping ... cloudy with light rain @ 11:30, closest LWS reports total of 1.03" yesterday, plus another 0.67" since midnight. Currently under a Freeze Warning.

Got area by basement door cleared out and all the strawberry starts moved in yesterday afternoon, also disassembled top part of old freebie router table:

IMG_3022 copy.jpg

The large strawberry plant sitting on top of the table was the only "King Kong" strawberry plant that I was able to salvage from the deer last year. It had been sitting in a pot for most of this year.

Was a little unhappy about that ... until I realized that I could just go ahead and get some starts from the runners that it had put out. So I went ahead grabbed some 6" growers pots and screened compost soil and started pinning the runners down so they could root:

IMG_3023 copy.jpg

Still have another 4 to do, for a total of 10, not including the parent plant.

Among today's tasks will be to set up a grow light or two on a timer to help them among over the next few days.

After that I started working on the softener valve parts again. Here's a couple of pictures of the finish after soaking in the Iron-X:

IMG_3024 copy.jpg

IMG_3025 copy.jpg

Dulled them up considerably.

And after a little bit of work on one with a wire pencil brush in the Sears Root-Zip:

IMG_3026 copy.jpg

Probably do some more work on those parts later today.

Have some bills I need to schedule for payment as well.

And this is Recycle Week.

Woman is also squawking about getting straw to mulch the strawberry plants ...

Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 38 to start going to 48 ! More sun today, although that won’t be too hard, there was none yesterday !
Depending on the WiFi connections down in the islands, you may not hear too much from me for the next 15 days ! We will see !Hopeful to be able to connect !

Helog, good story and yes I will be sure to have some fun ! Arunas is very tall, of course that is relative, I am only 5’9” so everyone seems tall to me ! 😂 I also think he does or did play basketball so I will tell him about this story ! 😉
Also we may have more in common, I was a toolmaker/modelmaker for my whole life, and now do some part time truck driving ! So soon as you mention CNC my ears are ringing a bit ! 😉

We leave Ct at 3am tomorrow, and then flight from JFK is about 7am !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

If Arunas is / has been on basketball, you have to check on him :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

My company is selling / servicing CNC machines for furniture / windows / door industry
Now we enter in advanced materials market, like CF / GF.
Just supplied big CNC for drones factory. American owners BTW. Edge autonomy.

Here pic how we put operating unit on basement. machine has 1200 mm Z stroke - ram is massive

Currently 40F and mostly cloudy @ 13:00, heading up to around 44F for the day's high. Sun occasionally peaking through.

Looks like we had a hard freeze last night: closest PWS reports the overnight low was 26.6F this morning. First clipper system of the season coming in later, snow expected.

Windshield was iced up pretty good this morning when I headed out to get blood drawn.

Coffee tasting good (finally !) ... but I feel a bit like a pin cushion, took them 4 tries to hit a vein ... 🤬

Tuna Helper for dinner last night, Woman made a chocolate cake with peanut butter fudge icing.

Probably head out here in few, have some dirt in the dump cart I need to empty.

And need to refill bird feeders.

May try to chop up some of the leaves before the flakes start falling.

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

RS, sometimes you think the nice nurse ought to have Rotorooter on her tshirt...I'm not an easy stick either.

I saw those strawberries yesterday, and then they were gone.
tried a bunch of times to log in, nope
I figured aliens had come down to take RS's strawberries they looked so good
and paused the site while they were there
that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Drew, with all the improvement you make to the house have you ever discussed a long term, multi year lease?

We did that with our cottage, giving tenant a good steady rate and the ability to make improvements subject to our approval.

North Bay trip went off without a hitch. Snowing so hard that when I came back I actually used the real headlights instead of daytime running lights. Road was wet to almost snow covered, bridge decks were white and not treated. We got a little less than an inch, so far.

Going out tomorrow morning to get my nuts (lug) tightened up and get junior to the vampire for the blood the quack wants.

Stay safe all

I have a five year lease now.
before I made any more improvements I would ask for another longer lease, maybe ten years.
I can always leave...
thanks

current lease has a 5 percent inflation clause each year, probably where it should stay though longer terms ??

Frits, that air powered angle grinder/cutoff saw on the right looks like a very old friend of yours. What tales it could tell...
you want me to cut what??

my hairdresser dressed up as a ghoul, quite the outfit.
All the ladies had fun outfits on for Halloween.

good haul on the last of the sweet peppers

went out and tap tap tapped on the starter motor
started right up...
sounds like dubious reliability to me

Good Afternoon Guys,
Lou, very nice driveway pics, looks like you could plow all those leaves if you were so inclined !

MikeZ, nice progress on the milk house, must feel good to get some of that work out of the way !

Kilroy, thanks for sharing that forged in fire contestant shop. I love watching that program !

Helo, I will try and get a picture of Arunas and Rasa and of course me, and post if I can !

I guess this is my official sign off, from TBN, hopeful for a connection down in the islands !

Happy Halloween to all my TBN friends, have a great evening !:devilish::alien:

Good Afternoon Thomas,
Unfortunately no, I had to work today, and our newer truck is being repaired in the shop ! That means I used the old truck, and had to shift all day, the Allison Automatic has me spoiled in the newer truck ! Then came home and tried to do a quickie job on the leaves !

Maybe some sleep on the plane tmrw ! ;)

Well, Sunday's shop wiring work came an abrupt halt, when I missed the last step on the ladder. I landed on my already tender left leg and saw stars from the F*%)(#g pain in the knee! Thankfully, I didn't fall down. I tried the ibuprofen, lidocaine cream and whiskey treatment, while watching sports the rest of the day.

Yesterday, no whiskey but kept up the meds and the knee was a bit better, and today it's better still. Dang, it hurt. I did manage to get the main stretch of car lift circuit wire pulled and connected in the panel yesterday, then I stopped. Good thing I'm retired and no pressing work to get done.

Lesson learned - PAY ATTENTION on ladders.
OUCH!!!!!

And this is why I recently invested in scaffolding - yea, it is anPITA to set up and take down, but for any sort of serious work it is the only way to go.

Speaking of scaffolding HD has the "Bakers" style on sale for $160@.
/edit
I just bought a section in Virginia. Need it for some work around the house, Hopefully it will mate with the two sections I bought from TSC back in 2020 or 2021, but they are in Mississippi. I only NEED 1 section here at the moment.

Hah! Thanks. I have scaffolding (best tool money I've spent lately). Three sections, but have only needed one so far.

The ladder mishap was coming down FROM the scaffold.
