August, 101˚F on the coolest weather station. Not only is August the hottest month of the year in Texas but in central Texas it is rattlesnake birth month.
Each female has between 2-12 babies each with fangs and venom.
Copperheads too.

Coffee is brewing. 61° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 68° with cloudy skies and light rain. .51" rain yesterday. Neighbor came over and we new tires mounted on tractor. Then cleared more limbs from his place until rain started. Still lots more to get done. Going to be an inside day doing house cleaning and laundry.
Yesterdays sunrise.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

73 going to 91. Got a fair amount of rain late yesterday.

Hope you folks in Texas get some rain and cooler temps soon and fewer rattlesnake babies.

Ron, great sunrise...helps get the day off on the right foot.

Mostly, nice that you do the DASH deliveries...know they must be appreciated.

Had a smoke alarm awakening yesterday in middle of night, so replaced all the batteries yesterday, but then still had chirping on two of them..."rebooting" via the circuit breaker didn't help. Went back out to the shed to get the ladder and tried something I read online...resetting, or what one website called "discharging" by taking battery out, switching off the circuit breaker and then pressing the Test button for 30 seconds. Worked. (y)

While "up there" in the ceiling stratum, removed some light fixtures around the house and cleaned them, plus the LED bulb in one of the kitchen ceiling lights went dim yesterday so replaced it...I put a 5000K bulb in and my wife explained why I needed to take it out and put in a 3000K bulb instead. The bulb package says "may last up to 13 years"...mine may have lasted up to 3.

Just as I got restarted on string trimming with a fresh battery, the rain hit...didn't see it on radar before I went out...but still got the important part finished, then took another swing at the European hornets before coming in. My wife got stung by a yellow jacket yesterday. I went to the location (hummingbird feeder), caught it with a butterfly net.

good morning all
seems like new batteries in the weather station did the trick.
.80 inches so far and rain is leaving the area until later today.

Don, nice melons
if you remember I did melons in NC, all kinds of international ones, was a lot of fun.
But after a four inch rain, half of them blew up.
another veggie that can't control amount of water it takes in
Not like too much water is your problem...

I put e bike on charge when I got home, in garage, garage still standing so guess it didn't burst into flames.
today I put bike on back of motorhome and under a special cover i got for it.
But e bike needs a trip to Popgadget's shop, wire to rear light which had to be moved for rear carrier won't hook up.
Extra leads they provided were wrong ***, so have to old fashion cut and splice.
I could do it, but Paul will do it much more neatly. Weather has to dry up for me to head up his way.

I used to charge into every repair with energy.
Now I think I've lost some of my confidence.
I seem to have less ability and less patience, not a good combo.
But my desire for good work has only increased, so more often need to ask for help.
I'm used to giving the help, not asking for it.

food shopping this morning, then home to work in garage and clean inside of rv.
Next trip is Sept 18. I want to run the slide in and out another time or two, just to be very sure it works.

72 outside this AM, may hit 90's today. tStorms expected later.

Not much of anything going on, got some roofers coming by to give me an estimate on patching the Milk House chimney hole. They will probably say, replace the roof. The tin is 100 years old, I have some of the same material laying about. LOL. A patch and a good paint job and I am good for another 100. LOL.

Waiting on the plumber estimate.

Need to call the dealer in a few about the ZTR. Sigh.

Need to run out and get some food stock. Pickings are getting slim around here.

Time to play the lottery. A billion plus will finish my remodeling efforts and cure my equipment ills for sure. LOL.

Hope all have a great start to the work week. Be safe.

You are right have to be careful but standing on a platform is better than balancing on a ladder. We use a giant antique copper tub for wood storage inside the house. It holds enough for a day or two and keeps the mess contained. We have a lot of Locust trees that are getting to the point of being ready for firewood or use as wood poles. Locust trees are to be thinned out anyway to make more room for the more desirable trees
We use an old copper washtub with lid for tinder/ kindling/etc.

70 going to 91, maybe some rain. Pretty muggy outside.

Kyle, a BIG Happy Birthday to your mom! I bet she really enjoyed your visit and opportunity to tell you another family story.

BEF, sounds like you were beginning to make vodka from those potatoes.

PJ, nice family of dogs. You two are angels.

Kil, looks like a nice time in Franklin, even a welcome sign for Thru-hikers. Did the band play any Teddy Ruxpin songs?

Buppies, nice new mower. Now to keep that tall grass cut to size.

I mowed mine yesterday for a couple of hours...didn't finish it, but it finished me...I had already run down the battery to zero on the string trimmer.

I ran the generator for a bit yesterday...routine, to get it ready for potential storm related power outages. I have not been able to find a replacement battery of the same size after a bit of searching last year, so just pull start it...pretty quick starting up on LP.

Only problem in using the generator (which has thankfully been very rare) is getting it out of the toolshed. The shed is old, built with full dimension rough cut lumber...well built, but the threshhold is a climb over the cinder block and 2x8 plate, so have to use car ramps on both sides to get it over, and it feels like it weighs a ton (and it gets heavier each time I have to move it 😁 ).
Not while we were ther - we left at first intermission so we could let the dogs out — the band still had two hours to go.

band played a good assortment of 80s pop. Mike and thenMechanics, Cutting Crew, GoGos, etc.

I kept yelling from the back “WEIRD AL!!! WEIRD AL!!!!”

😁👍

If the shed is that substantial, why not put in a mounting point for an eye/shackle to use a deadfall?

We can put Kilroy on his KX033-4 Mini-Excavator on that to get you a clear line of sight.
I don’t have steel tracks — that volcanicnock would chew up the rubber in short order!

got the bike finished and installed on rack. Very sturdy.
had a nice dinner over at friends and drove the bike around their block, and got lost...
had to call them on how to get back on development back roads.
Bike hit its 20mph top speed, ran fine
yawning like mad, not going to last long
E-bike looks ready fat tires and all for rough ground but where are the saddlebags

Good Morning!

70.0F going to mid 80s, cloudy/damp morning with t-storms this afternoon.

Harry and Bailey going to vet this morning, butt and nails. Harry has just gotten aphis meds that should mellow him out for his nail trimming — we hope!

then the guy who Mrs got the dolls from two weeks ago is coming up to the VA here in town for an appointment and is bringing another box of dolls for her. We are treating him to lunch (we offered that last year after buying TukTuk from him but this was the first oppportunity).

then the weather means that it will end up being another “keep the couches from floating away” finale to the day.

i hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

good catch
I have them....if I don't need them, why haul them around...
going to see if I can make a quick attach version. If four bolts, as I think it might be,
I'll put them on. Without a front basket, which I don't want, the saddle bags
really are all there is unless I build something custom for the rear carrier.
But that adds weight up high.

Panier bags aka saddlebags, for the marketing types, are small, well made and somewhat plasticky.
Now if they were brown leather, you bet. Of course being lightweight plastic makes them lightweight, which
is what this little e bike is all about. I just keep adding weight to it...
I surely bent from the knees picking it up, but it was doable.

if/when I get my back operated on, picking anything up over five pounds is out for a while.
will have to rethink my approach.
maybe an e trike on a rear platform with a
built in ramp.
where there is a will there is a way.

Good Morning
68 with a high of 80 chance of rain increasing through the day to a near certainty for this evening.
Rained early this am, bringing about 1/2”.

Yesterdays trips went well another Mission BBQ lunch. Got home about the same time the wife did, she had another successful farmers market with The Transit Connect. Zoe was happy to have us back and get outside. Fortunately she is impeccably housebroken. (You don’t want to clean up after a dog her size).
Stopped by the restaurant to check out a small cooler, went over to the RC club field just to socialize on my way home. Son and his family stopped by around 8, grandson wanted hugs and kisses before bedtime. It sure is nice having them close by…….

Today is off to Martha’s Vineyard, last trip for a while unless something pops up. I need the time to catch up on chores, hay needs to be moved onto the barn and the mowing is coming due already.

Good Morning everyone!
60, going up to 80. We got some rain here, but only .2 inch. Daughter 25 miles south got 2 inches!

Work is coming along well on the shop build. Finished up the walls yesterday. Will get the electric done on the last/north wall (a few more outlets, for A/C and door openers), next. I got a quote for two good roll-up doors, with high lift tracks, windows and shaft drive openers - $8,200. Yikes! I said okay, since I don't want to try installing the "high lift" ones. Except for the insulation, I've done all the rest of the work myself (with a bit of help putting up the ceiling trusses, and windows from the SIL).

Morning all, some overnight rain, 70 going to 87 and more rain tonight.
Did general cleanup yesterday and finished emptying coolers and trash cans.

Today more day job and tomorrow Chimney people coming by (hopefully) to redo chimney crown and repoint, reflash.

GS - the shop looks amazing.

Still upset I didn't take pictures of the pool party, if Drew hadn't I would have none.
Guess I got too busy as we were supposed to get rain Friday, so had more setup on Saturday than usual.

Now to start planning son birthday party, some of his band and friends are off to college. He is quite upset so many changes happening.

Be well,
