Good morning!!!!

Drew- Nice looking radishes. I used an plant/animal id app and according your curet may be a Red Cone Gall Wasp.

Dennis- Good luck with the door placement.

Fritz- Nice door, and I am sorry to see your mower's damage.

It was a breezy mix of high level haze and clouds with 41ºF as this morning's low temperature. 22mph wind gusts recorded. The clouds have been burning off, but the smoke plume is thinner than it has been the past few days. 46ºF is the current temperature and I expect these conditions to continue through the day with an afternoon high temperature in the low to mid50ºF's. The NWS/Boston-Norton Office has issued a Red Flag (Fire) Warning for today due to the weather conditions and a Freeze Watch for tomorrow morning as this dome of high pressure continues to build in. Next week I'll get some tomato and basil starts and get the tiller on the tractor.

Due to the wind and low humidity the gratin the lower field was dry so I took advantage and finished mowing the area south of the solar panels that I keep open and finished my walking paths in the lower field. It will be a nice day to putter about outside and/or get the string trimmer running.

Good morning! Low of 48°, going up to 78° again. Today is a transition day --- moisture moves in and an 80% chance of showers / t-storms this afternoon. Same chances through Saturday. Totals are predicted to be up to 1.5" of rain.... not complaining at all.... if it happens....

Wifey was very happy with yesterday's planting endeavor. Transplanted 4 trees, and 6 shrubs. A couple pics of the new planters completed:

Finally, the courtyard project is nearing completion. Now that those planters are in place, the walkway can get installed. And the remaining "dirt" areas can get covered. Wifey is currently planning the final choices of some 'ground-cover' type plants for select areas.

The strawberry planter / bed is in the backyard, assembled, but not set or filled. Today about 14 tons of gravel will get spread to clear the access to fill said planter.....

Need to start thinking about taking the string trimmer for a walk.... weeds are starting to get big. ----A never ending battle.

Everyone have a great day!
Ted- Thanks for shairing your's and Dona's newest project. You, She, and the rest of your family have created an oasis where once was only desert.

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 6:15AM. Sunny. High 96F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Maybe a bit of cooling by the middle of next week, but until then we'll be in the 90s.

Slotting you in would mean rescheduling someone else, and then they'd have TWO irate customers instead of just one. Sounds like they probably reschedule people regularly, though, so maybe they're used to upsetting their customers and have stopped caring.

A couple weeks ago one of the contractor's helpers went to use an outdoor duplex outlet and the plastic face fell off of it. They gave me a new outlet, but it was only yesterday that I finally got around tuit. Had a heck of a time trying to find the right circuit breaker, and ended up using a label maker to re-label all of the breakers because I couldn't read most of the chicken scratches that were on there. Then I couldn't find the outlet the contractor left me, but dug one out of the junk box instead.

For some reason I still can't understand, the new LED stadium light isn't going all the way out when turned off. I tried resetting the low limit on the smart switch that controls it, and even replaced the smart switch, but still no joy. Fooled around with it for far too long and gave up. Today I'll move a known good smart switch from another location to see if it works any better.

The parts to fix the tractor were supposed to be in yesterday but I got no call, so I'll have to chase that down today, too. And Amazon says three different orders should arrive today. We'll see.

Happy Hump Day, folks!
I've noticed that many of the solid state switches have enough bleed current to keep led's powered enough to see.
Interposing a relay with more resistance then the led will fix it.

Trimmed low branches on blue spruce that about touched the ground, took that load across creek to the big pile, took load of bush trimmings back, then picked up load of sticks across creek. Used to be I couldn’t get in this corner of property it was so thick with multiflora roses. I couldn’t even get my tractor thru the other side of creek it was so grown up. Now a couple mowings a year and it looks like a park.

Beautiful day out, cool breeze.

It was brisk this morning. I made a early Walmart run before the store got crowded. No waiting in line. I saw that they opens at 6 am. I bet it is really not crowded then.

I hauled logs to my neighbor at the farm yesterday. There is a ton of dead and down trees that could be hauled but it would be a lot of work.

The grass up at the farm needs to be mowed.

This is the fixture that got wiped out when the porch cover blew off. I'm wondering if the wires got shorted sometime during or after the event, and the switch got damaged. Prior to that, though, there weren't any problems with any of the LEDs on any of the other copies of that switch glowing even dimly. I removed the lamp from the leads and measure 120VAC between the switched lead and neutral even when the switch is in the off position. Tried another copy of the same switch I had laying around, same result. Gotta be the switch, so I'll put a known good one in there today and hope that fixes it.

64°F and .49 inches rain and raining.

Off to Costco this morning. Maybe best use of a rainy day. Anyway the furry kids are down to last bag of kibble hence it’s time.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

RNG - also check ground is connected to a real ground for lights, could be differential voltage? Those smart switches can be finicky.

Drew-thanks for the offer but I need something to live here for a while and the ground I mow, well you've seen it, is in little patches through trees between each. Which is why my simplicity deck is so battered. That and the occasional rocks that pop up after heavy rainfalls.
Hopefully the old deck and the newer deck combined parts will work.
Will find out after work today.

So Ted all living ground cover, no gravel? Do you have underground sprinklers? Underground drip system?
If allowed, now would be good time to get them in.
Only had them at one house, my last wife's.
She really had a green thumb and we had flowers crammed in just about every available spot.
Lot of maintenance, lot of shrub cutting, lot of watering.
I didn't mind. I was used to maintaining a bigger place by then, so I was happy to have gardens there.
Including a rose garden where twice I was able to pick and bring in a dozen roses for my wife.

I got sick of watering it all and we had the sprinkler system installed.
I liked to run it manually only when it really needed it. Plus the timer controls were endlessly confusing.
This was my wife's dream home built for her with her Father's help. In a nice area just outside Newtown named Holland.
Nice neighborhood, almost everyone took really good care of their property. Living in suburbia on a half acre lot. Did that for 13 years, until
I bought the farm in NC.

My grandfather had a big rose garden right in front of his house on the farm growing up. I wound up tending it, trimming it, long after he died.
one time I will put on gloves, roses will get you.
And guess what is now blooming outside?

Buckeye you are getting a lot done, pace yourself.

Popgadget did his magic this morning. New electric heater element for hot water heater installed.
Nothing the matter with the one in there, just a little crusty. Replaced it anyway.
Big rubber coated reset buttons inside heater. Pushed one, heard a click. Oh....
And the water got nice and warm in a hurry, after we started the gen to power it.
Then a new water inlet fitting and a nice new kitchen sink faucet with a built in squirter.
We had to make a run out to a local hardware store for some adapters.
Old and new were not only the wrong sex but wrong size and style. Adapter to the rescue.
and no need for goop, it was a goopless day.

Living large and very appreciatively. Drove home with window down, noise cancelling headset on, feeling the cool breezes.
low humidity out, going to get a little too cool tonight.
