sodamo, the sign in the barber shop; haircuts $10.oo, we repair home haircuts $20.oo. Maybe the welding shop will charge you less if they don't have to fix your repair?

Yup, that is definitely part of the thought process. And why I’m leaning to just use the upper holes and make the torn out piece less dangerous.

Just spent a totally annoying amount of time on phone with Dish. Can’t cancel online. Once you get thru the 1st level, get passed to the really annoying guy who keeps insisting he is just offering solutions. If I didn’t say “cancel” a hundred times I didn’t say at all. Of course I did get a chuckle when he got to equipment return disclosure and read not to attempt returning to them just find a recycle. No partial refund either.

On the issue of the VA services and more money for the agency

My experience on the services is not a lack of money but a lack of competent people with good leadership. A new secretary does not fix the in the ranks issues. It takes a whole lot more than that.

Our son has received several cash awards and he is on sizable monthly payments to where he should be able to live comfortable. But with his fixations and mental issue he blows it all
The prescribing doctors do not coordinate treatment and he ends up on 25 meds at the same time. No-one takes him off any. And he goes home less after release and they continue to send boxes and boxes of his meds to our house
In the private world you work in a few meds to see if they work and if not change it> prescribing mental heath meds is not rocket science despite what you may hear. It is a matter of finding the right combination by trial a error

Sorry to read about your son’s issues and hope it does improve.

When I got out of the Army the 1st time, I was discharged from hospital and was enrolled in VA at less than 10%. When I went back in 7 years later, I had to get that discharge code changed. While active I was able to take advantage of Education and VA mortgage benefits.

After retirement, I tried a number of times but can’t seem to get on board, not even acknowledge my previous status. Have been told unofficially I will qualify under various scenarios, agent orange, hearing etc. Actually filled out forms and for more than a year would get a letter every couple months saying they were working on it. Then I got a letter with all the blank forms to start again. Of course I didn’t have a copy of the previous submitted. Never could get any info online. Attended a couple of the local seminars and still no help. All very frustrating. My only purpose is to be in the system in event something does happen to me, Sophie can possibly get some sort of assistance. Someday I may try again.

Fritz- I am sorry to read about your son's challenges and your family's, and I agree with you completely. It's learning/knowing about challenges like your son's that gets my undies in a bunch; and sadly there far too many others like him in similar circumstances. I briefly worked in a male admissions unit and got involved with quite a few (PTSD) Veterans. Trying to get services for these poor souls through the VA/Leeds Hospital back in the late 1970's/early 1980's was next to impossible. I still get angry thinking about it.🤬

Sorry to hear about your difficulties, To get benefits is an area our son did figure out how to get amazingly enough. It takes a lawyer that specializes in this to get it in most cases and they take a cut of the award that goes back to when the initial filing was made. He had several appeals and other claims that got processed. He was awarded large cash payments plus monthly payments

David- Good luck. Like I posted to Fritz it seems that nothing really has changed in the VA system. Look what happened to all those old and failing Veterans at the VA/Holyoke Hospital. I forget just how many Veterans died from Covid 19 due to mismanagement and :poop: quality care. I can not believe nobody in management or care management went to jail.🤬

I sure did.
My 1st thoughts were to remove that frame, take it to town to a welding shop.

My suggestion would be to drive it across the pacific to the mainland, then across the country to PA, and I’ll plasma cut it out, fabricate and weld in a new piece.
Or take it to a local welding shop if that’s an option.
IMHO that would be the best repair and probably cheaper in the long run if you can get it to a shop nearby.

Was having similar thoughts just yesterday, wondering if all that southern border induced money went to bonafide citizens.

Near the farm in Ohio, they spent $1M of C ovid money to remove some rocks on a hill side. Never could figure that one out.

Thanks for the heads up. Lol. Like I didn’t know that will be the case.
I own all my dish equipment, although I’m not sure about the one they upgraded for free since they dropped SD units.

horrible trip to dentist. He drilled for almost 45 minutes, said I had a lot of decay around the new crown going in, oh geez, had to ask him to stop several times
as it felt like my head would explode. First my neck doesn't bend well, being fused, second my severe tinnitus makes that drill sound ten times louder, and the whole left side
of my head started to hurt. We were not having fun. I just hate the dentist. 1600 dollars later I escaped and promptly ordered a water pic...

David, do you have bumpy or rocky ground? You've had other stuff break before.
Too bad you aren't closer, Popgadget would make a work of art out of that.

spent almost an hour on phone with Verizon, very intelligent and helpful person, as Popgadget confirmed.
but his email to me would not go through (after he hung up about ten came through in a bunch) so I had to use my Iphone which
is very hard for me to text with due to hand arthritis, carpal tunnel, general decrepitude. Even though same company as cell phone folks, this division of Verizon
ran another credit check first, would not transfer/fill in data, had to start from scratch. That sure seems inefficient, but I guess they have saved so much money by not having bricks and mortar customer service, they are happy. Guy has to come and attach the line on Saturday, bring the modem, at least he will hook it up, and that costs 99 bucks.
Comcast last time was 75. At least I will save over 150 a month by cancelling Comcast altogether.

I asked about the speed of the internet service. Was told it was 300/300. I asked what they throttled the output to, like Comcast does down to about 11mb, and they said no throttling. This I have to see to believe. Just think of the nanoseconds I'll save posting TBN pics....
I saw zero reason to get 1 terabyte speed, or 500. Of course she quoted me the most expensive option first and didn't tell me I had choices.
Well I have their mailer ad in front of me...

time for a tylenol and a rest.

Drew, sorry about Dentist ordeal. Not my favorite either.
Sounds like Verizon might be a good change.

Yes a couple areas I mow are quite bumpy and likely major contributor. I have a couple areas where the furrows left by potato farmer are quite pronounced. Got this from a friend

and hope to smooth out some. I would have thought both sides would have been effected, but having 2 different lift pins likely contributed. The other side with original pin has no wear.

Trying to picture in my mind with that frame in my luggage making my way to Paul’s

My last crown was over an hour of grinding, and my dentist likes to have me upside down to make it easier for him. But he does good work. He tells me I’m a rough customer to work on.

Got rest of garden cleared of weeds, just using a hoe. Sun finally came out.
