Have found a VFD on Amazon I think I'm going to go with that seems well-rated and is reasonably priced, just need to check the specs on the plate on the 3 phase motor to make sure the model I order has sufficient output.

Now need to start looking for an enclosure to mount it in.

Still trying to figure out the best mounting solution. From an environmental perspective, ideally I would wall-mount it in the basement - which is heated and cooled conditioned space. But that seems like it could be an issue in terms of easy access to the controls.

When sizing it, keep in mind that most VFD’s have a lower rating when being fed single phase than 3 phase. Also make sure that the one you choose will actually accept a single phase input.
As far as access to controls, once it’s programmed, you don’t have to access them for a saw, it’s never going to need reverse or variable speed. Just set to 60hz and you are done. You might consider running low voltage control wiring to the VFD for start/stop control.
As far as an enclosure, you will need to provide ventilation as the drives are typically fan cooled.
There is generally a good selection on eBay.

So the old connection was in more of a bind, so I put some 45's in to make things fit. In a perfect world, I'd have a trencher and replace all the 3/4 PVC with Pex. The previous version was maybe 10 years old. Hoping this one will last that long.

Right ... (y)

One of these two are what I'm currently looking at:

The first one what the guy that did the video I watched on programming these is using to supply 3PH to a 2hp Bridgeport mill. Mfg. claims a 3hp rating.

He says it's actually a little on the underpowered side for the rating on the Bridgeport's motor (which is actually 2 hp)... but he hasn't experienced any issues.

Here's his video on that:

which seemingly makes programming them pretty straightforward.

That's what I was thinking.

Thanks, good to know ... (y)

We got a couple of inches of snow. More to come overnight. The powers that be are still threatening 6-8". Whatever comes I am ready for it. Got my cookies and that is all that matters.

When I had my Maine Coon, at bedtime she would lay on the corner of the bed where I put my feet. I would move her over and climb into the bed on my back. She would walk up my legs from the foot of the bed and lay on my chest and purr up a storm. Within 5 minutes of her purring I would be sound asleep.

Here’s the enclosure I used on my Bridgeport for the VFD, there is a switch and pilot light for when it’s on.

The coarse scotchbrite serves as an air filter on the exhaust to keep chips out of it, there is another opening on the bottom to let air in.

Here’s the low voltage controls, the potentiometer varies the speed, the middle switch is fwd-off-rev, and the bottom button is jog, with the bezel around it selecting direction.

Late posting today.... low last night was 24°, and a nice dusting of an inch of snow. Never got above 38° today. The wind has been consistently gusty since last night and all day today.

The quarry called me at 08:00 and informed me the gravel delivery was "on it's way"..... duh! He's sitting in the driveway..... So --- another gravel fix.....

Wasn't getting the tractor out in the wind and cold. At least the gravel is here for me when I'm ready.....

Wonder what ever happened to Eric Salop? Hope he's ok.

Don, give extra hugs and scratches to Whipper....hope she gets better.

RS, nice score on the table saw! It's cleaning up nicely.

Kilroy, cute pup! The wifey loves his name!

Drew, please stop rubbing in the temps you are enjoying! Awaiting some pics now......

Thomas, sounds like a really good plan for the evening! Our menu was slightly different.... indulged in some Philly cheesesteaks and beer battered fries.

Daughter and family on their way back up to Colorado.... just left. They have a 4 1/2 hour drive ahead. She got called into the clinic tomorrow. Other provider that was covering her shift called off.....

Everyone have a great evening!
