Got up to 66F and windy today. Felt like April.

I was on branch patrol at the farm yesterday. Too big to run over with the mower and too small for firewood. I cut them up small enough to chuck into the woods. Kind of disappointing to find that 2 hours of that was enough for me. I felt kind of weary this morning but after a short nap I felt better. I need to get more exercise in the winter.

Do you guys have a lot of branches down. I seem to be collecting a car sized pile every year at the house.

I ran to the grocery store this morning. The air smelled strongly of manure. I guess it is spreading time.

Chris

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 12C and it's presently 24.5C, overcast with a slight breeze.

There's not much on for today... which is good, being retired and all. I've got a dinner/meeting this evening so I should be home by 2130.

That's about it, take care all.

Where do you plug the battery in?
No need with the very sharp and hard Japanese blade and a manual speed of seven strokes per inch. And the good part is I'm not even sore because it only weighs 8 pounds, less than a battery, and battery operated pole saws are not 20'

We will never go back to a tank WH. It's really nice to never run out of hot water....

Paul, that's one big pile of s*@&..... I mean manure.....Good that you have a place to take it to..... I still remember all the farm dumping the manure out on the fields along 313 just outside of Doylestown. Stunk up the whole area..

When spring gets here, I’ll start spreading it here, but I need a bigger bin to get me through the winter, so I had to resort to exporting.

I put an electric tankless on the shop, it’s an 18kw unit, gives me a continuous 60 degree rise at 2gpm. I can stand the big electrical hit when it’s running because it might go days or even weeks with no demand. It replaced a 6 gallon tank that was ok for washing your hands, but couldn’t supply even a sink full of hot water. The electric in the house is a conventional 80 gallon electric with 3” of foam insulation. There is little to no storage loss.

If I used gas, I’d definitely go tankless in the house. Might go heat pump when the current one dies.

I had GE heatpump water heater in between when I had the Marathon. It didn’t last too long in HP mode, and electric mode. Now sitting outside my barn, needs trip to the dump.

44°F and partly cloudy this morning, got up to 61° here today. Some rain coming through overnight, followed by cooler air and 30s for Friday, then back up into the 50s for the weekend. Seems like an atypically warm February, which is usually our worst month for winter weather.

Wife got some terrible news yesterday, albeit not unexpected. Our oldest (14/yo) Border Collie, Evey, has been having some health problems lately. She's gotten sluggish and weak in the past couple of months, and mostly lays around all day. We had to get a lift strap to help her get up and down the stairs, and now she doesn't even bother going down there. Wife took her to the vet yesterday, who confirmed what she'd suspected for some time; the lump near her kidneys has spread to her spleen and is malignant. Told her she may have a week, two weeks, maybe a month. Euthanasia is the only cure. Gave her some pain medicine and said to let her eat whatever she wants and just enjoy the time with her, then bring her back when she's ready. Dawna is devastated.

Got a text message from my old boss this morning asking me to call him. Was hoping it wasn't to tell me his father had died. It wasn't. In fact, he asked me how my new job is going. When I told him it's fantastic, he sighed and said that's too bad. He said he wanted to ask me to come back. I politely declined, and encouraged him to keep looking, recounting my own hesitation to go there at first as well.

Hope everyone here is doing well, too.

Good evening, gents.
