Basketball goal attachment

I think if hes calling it a "goal" hes for enough out to not get those type of people.

I suppose I need to paint the picture if this sub-topic is to have any hope of fizzling out. We live 45 minutes from any major metropolitan area, we are surrounded by rice farms, and this is my daughter's varsity basketball team:

She's #5, the token diversity.

Typicaly there called a basket ball hoop.

I'm sure you're right and either this is regional or I'm too... eh... "sheltered" to know the proper terms, but to me, the hoop is the orange round part with the net attached to it. It attaches to the backboard, which attaches to the pole, which attaches to the base. All of these together, the assembly, is the goal.

Their culture exists on the opposite end of the risk-vs-reward spectrum from our "padded corners and choke hazard labels" culture. I don't think that excuses anything and I can't imagine what justification they would give if taken to task over putting a baby in a bucket like that. But they do, and nobody there thinks they're bad parents for it, only people here do. And I have conflicting thoughts about the arbitrary nature of morality (ex: it's a crime to leave a dog in a car for 10 minutes but not to leave a mouse stuck to a glue trap until it eats itself). So I've come full circle back to: It is strange to me, how cultural this is.

Take a look at their judicial system vs ours. EPA, CPSC, NHTSA, Child Services, etc. in any of those countries? All things built up in this country to help protect ourselves from ourselves
