I would buy a Big tex 14GP gooseneck. You either hire someone for a 1 time move of your 14k machine or haul it on this trailer. I have hauled 12k on a smaller version that they used to sell and it handle it fine. It is the lightest capable trailer made due to its truss design vs a heavy I beam. I wish trailers were advertised by how much weight you can put on them. Not the weight of trailer and load.

A 14k machine on a 14k trailer is way overloaded. As @Fixastuff said 14k means GVWR not payload. Most of those weigh at least 4k. That is why I bought a 18k trailer so I could load my 14k machine on it.

I see it all the time. Dual 7k axle trailer going down the road way overloaded with a skid steer and more.

You actually have to perform an air brake test. Its a physical demonstration. One has to monitor the air brake chamber(s) filling with air, then pump the brakes to bleed them down, etc.

If someone given a Class A CDL in a dually pickup with a gooseneck is now licensed to drive an air braked 18 wheeler with a 53’ trailer,,,,, we are gonna be in heap big trouble.
I was going by memory, he got his CDL probably over 20 years ago. His brother in law owned a trucking company so he probably took a big rig for the air brakes. I was thinking the tanker endorsement was just a written test, he was hauling air plane deicer at the time. I know you have to really study for those tests too. I live about a mile from our township shed and the road superintendent wanted me to drive a dump truck for him. Sounded like fun but it sure looked like I need a CDL.

You can get Haz Mat by written test

Another question since I just went thru this. I switched insurance companies and my previous one required coverage on the trailer, new one doesn’t.

So what do people have? Insurance on the trailers they own?

I've towed a Ford 4500 backhoe on a 40 ft deck over with a Ram 2500 Diesel. It was a terrifying experience all around.

The backhoe is rear heavy. Loading it required blocking to keep the trailer from lifting the truck of the ground. We had to back it on, extend the boom to get the weight distribution right.

The trailer was very top heavy and handled / stopped terrible.

For the distance you are going / cost involved I would have it professionally hauled. That is what I have done everytime I moved my 555E since.

When we cleared my brothers 30 acres of 10 yr old pine we rented a D5 dozer. It was faster, easier to operate, more cost and time effective.

I wish trailers were advertised by how much weight you can put on them. Not the weight of trailer and load.
Some manufacturers have "load, payload, or cargo" included on the decal

They don't want the liability. And there is no definitive answer either.

Your average 14k bumper pull trailer probably weighs 3000#....and a well balance load can probably have 2k tongue weight

In theory that allows an actual payload of ~13k

Now if the trailer mfg states that.....

And some jackwagon double stacks pallets of bricks as far forward as possible on the trailer....they are probably overloading both the truck, hitch, and front axle. And they don't want to assume the liability because they told you the payload is 13k.

Even so.... Some trailers DO list it. They give you a tire information sticker similar to trucks that says something like "max cargo and payload shal not exceed......" Which is usually just the sum of the axles minus the tare weight of the trailer. But technically you can legally haul more if you account for tongue weight

Hay - so they had put a brand-new Cab on that truck, just before they sold it to you ?

JK..... but your pics well illustrate my recent post...... 5 year old cabs up here don't look that good !

Well Chased and Bought ! Why no love for the SS bed, or do you just want to sell it ?

All modern diesels have suffered, but even the International dealers up here don't want to touch a MaxxForce....

Rgds, D.

I think they took care of the cab, but the frame was only given minimal attention.
Tell you this, avoid any kind of black “coating” for frames. I’d do paint or fluid film, but not much else. The coating they used actually peeled off in places and trapped corrosives.

The SS bed was only 10’ long and had the chain drive trough in the floor. I just want a 12-13’ “rock” dump. I found an AR450 12 or 13 (dealer has both) so I’m saving up all my millions I make off hay lol

Definitely avoid IH with Max Force. This one has an HT570 “old school”, so I should be ok.
