Is anyone still getting 1-2 day Amazon Prime delivery? When we're up in NH we rarely got things in less than 4 days but I expected that down here in Florida it'd be what it was in the past, 1-2 days. Nope, this year it's 7-8 days. Time to get out of the $139 membership.

Some Amazon stuff shows up next day, some in a week.
Seems to be based on stock at local or remote warehouses.

Placed an amazon order yesterday evening. At my house before 8 am this morning. these items had overnight shipping listed on them. Most orders either next day or 2 day delivery

Wow, I wonder what's happened to the delivery in parts of Florida then.......

Not sure why Amazon is slow in Florida, maybe warehouse manpower shortage. Shipping in this area of mid-Tn. has always been very fast. Less than 1 hour from a local warehouse makes overnight delivery on certain items possible.

I don't order often enough from them to justify the expense of prime, but last couple years delivery times have been all over the place from a couple days to close to 2 weeks. I usually check the box to combine as much as possible into one package so I suspect that some items may come from different warehouses.
Going by return addresses on the label there doesn't seem to be any pattern as to where stuff ships from. I think the nearest warehouse is somewhere in Mass. (Stoughton?), but that address only rarely is where it seems to be shipped from.

I presume you're close enough to get delivery from one of their trucks? We're too far out...everything comes UPS or USPS which adds a day or two.

Some products still require a signature, alcohol, some medicines.

That’s funny, I ordered a freedom seed distribution device from South Carolina and it clearly said on the website that it must be signed for. My wife waited around all day and nobody came to tue door. When I got home I saw it leaking on the garage door frame in a bright box that said ———- armory and had a picture of a freedom seed distribution unit on in

That is correct. Probably 90% of my orders are delivered by their Amazon logo trucks or someone in their private vehicle working for them. Occasional package from USPS or UPS which does add maybe a day extra delivery time.

In the last year or so my normal delivery times to the post office from Amazon have gone from 3 days to 5 or 6. As far as I can see most everything gets routed through the Amazon Jacksonville FL warehouse to the mini cargo container at the rear of the post office at about 6 am.

I've mainly gotten away from Amazon. I've found that by looking around, I usually can find items with comparable pricing, without paying a fee to save money. I always have had an issue with that concept.

I've always looked at the Prime fee like pre-paying the shipping fees and saving a bunch if you ordered more than 20-25 items a yr and we do that.

I generally don't pay shipping fees, no matter who I am buying from. If I place an order for anything it's enough so that they cover it. I'm also not tied to doing business with one company.

One thing that it seems many people don't realize is that many different small businesses use Amazon as there selling place.
You are buying it through Amazon but often but certainly not always it is coming from a small business.
When doing small purchases from small businesses someone is paying the shipping charges either directly or through the item markup.

It sounds like you're saying there's no such thing as a free ride!!!!

One reason I try to deal outside of Amazon is to try to keep more money in the vendor's pocket.

When I'm at my Alexandria, Va address (where I was up till mid December) I could often get items such as small tools and hardware in the next morning delivery. I've a home on a small court (6 houses beyond me) and Amazon LABELED trucks were often a twice a day occurrence.
Down here in Mississippi some of their stuff has been shuffled off to "slow post" and I'm getting Dejoy'd at times.
Next day delivery has stretched to 3 day plus.

My experience in Florida was always fast over the years so I'm surprised it's a week out now. I'm hoping it's a temporary thing due to holidays and labor shortage.

I have a ”job box” mounted out by my mail box, 48X36X36. 4-inch letters saying

”Parcel Box”
”USPS, UPS, FedEX”
“Leave parcels here”

And, I go into the relevant phone app, when I get a shipment notification, and filll out the delivery instructions, telling them to leave the inbound package in the box.

I’ve been out of town for the week, for training. Got home about 30-minutes ago. The Post Office left a package lying on the lid, on Monday. It was still there covered in 4-inches of snow. Luckily it was well packed, and no harm was done.

But it does leave me a bit tweaked.

My Amazon deliveries have been spot on. I rarely ask for 1-2 day delivery unless it is really urgent and when I have, they got it here.

I'm not sure the vendor necessarily comes out ahead by going it alone. There's the expense and hassle of maintaining your own website, with secure payment and keeping inventory updated. I don't know how shipping fees compare if you're a third party selling via Amazon's site vs as an independent...do you get a lower shipping rate by being affiliated with Az? Then there's just the hesitancy many buyers may feel when buying online from a vendor who's an unknown entity.

Yes there's the commission paid to Az and the rules that must be followed, but unless you're large enough to handle all the logistics yourself it's probably a bargain (or at least a wash) in the long run, and definitely exposes your products (and company) to a much wider customer base than you'd otherwise be able to do.
