I'm rebuilding a 58hp kubota engine and I'm pretty set on buying the adapter to drop it in a CJ chassis...

Thats going to be painfully slow. Can you find a Mercedes 300D with the OM603 or OM606 turbodiesel ? It will give you 136 to 194 hp in stock tune. 500hp with a big rig turbo on stock internals. All mechanical so easy swap.

I was reminded of the raised pickup crossing a badly-flooded ford. Paved, but the heavy current was pushing him sideways so he gunned it spinning all four tires wildly. Of course, that loss of traction caused him to drift off the edge and go floating downstream.

Hi,

That's a water tank, and this was legal load. Actually travelled well at 100kmh / 60mph. But I would have abandoned the trip if there were high winds.
