Just putting this out there and my dog ain't in this... Not positive but I believe frame breakage on Ram trucks has been an on going problem for sometime now, at least in way higher numbers than the other brands. I cannot recall where I read the article but some owners were trying to get/force Ram to do a recall. Reports go back to at least 2014 of frames broken behind the cab.

Like I said I do not remember where or when I read it but remember it because the SIL owns a new Ram.

Just googled dodge/ford/chevy truck frame braking...almost identical results in the images. Anyone care to guess what seems to be the common denominator?

Over loading? Corrosion from the inside out of a boxed frame? A few years ago owned an old GMC 1 ton dump it was rusty, and frequently overloaded by me both towing/ hauling, and I assume previous owners did the same cause before I rebuilt the entire rear suspension, unloaded it was on the helpers and all the bushings were blown out. Was driven on washboard back roads exclusively by me. had a channel frame that did not fail. However I probably wouldn't have overloaded it as frequently after reading these posts just ignorantly figured something else would break long before a frame failure. Which brings me to my current towing set up, and me thinking filling my air helper springs enough to level the truck when I'm tongue heavy on a trailer was the way to go.

Here is a youtuber I watch that is putting his own Silverado 3500 on a lift with a 100 gallon diesel tank behind the cab and shows the frame flex. I have started the video at 18:49 to cut down on the time you need to watch. Only need to watch about 2 minutes after that.

That's a lot of flex to change the cab / bed gaps that much.

Now imagine the flex with 500 pounds hanging over the tailgate like those guys with campers that are bending their trucks in the middle. Kind of explains the failure.

I don't think this has been mention but the roads down there are.... Let's see, they are.... "a little bumpy". So the extra stress from (most likely) driving too fast down those roads become a factor!!!
