Good morning! Low of 28°, only going up to a high of 42°, which will be around noon. The forecast says the temps will drop back into the low 30's this afternoon and a good chance of snow by late afternoon. The winds are now predicted to have gusts to 40 mph.

Maybe I'll get a chance to try out the edge tamers......

Drew, glad you're feeling better. Have you tried the propane burner type heaters out in the garage? They really work well, especially in places like garages.

Ron, nice to hear you had a good time. Nice blue jay pic. Our flocks have disappeared for the last few days. Haven't had to fill the feeders for almost a week.....

RNG, you probably can't find a Prius in Cali because they are in very limited production. I have 3 dealers looking for a Tundra SR for me.... there is one in Maryland and another in Florida.... that's it. You can't even order one, or specify options. The dealers are "getting an allotment of whatever Toyota decides to send us" ----- what I have been told by multiple dealers in 4 states.
I am thinking that it's going to be at least another 6 months to a year before production gets back to normal.

Not sure what I am going to get into today.... I might swap out placement of the implements in the shed. Move the mower to the rear and put the boxblade on the tractor for added weight. Then just some piddling....

Everyone have a great start to the week!

From today:

For the first time ever, US scientists at the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California successfully produced a nuclear fusion reaction resulting in a net energy gain – a source familiar with the project confirmed to CNN.

The result of the experiment is a massive step in a decadeslong quest to unleash an infinite source of clean energy that could help end dependence on fossil fuels. Researchers have for decades attempted to recreate nuclear fusion – replicating the fusion that powers the sun.

The US Department of Energy is expected to officially announce the breakthrough Tuesday.

A slide rule was what I used also during school and together with the log tables is what I used for design of bridges and other projects. Still have it. Using a calculator felt like cheating in the beginning. Not sure anyone knows how to use a slide rule anymore
I never did learn how to use a slide rule. I used pencil and paper up till I got my first calculator.

What type of raw materials will be needed?

Good Morning - currently 41° going to 52° - Hope everyone had a good weekend..

Daugen - glad your'e feeling better..

I went and bought a battery chainsaw on Saturday.. This is my first battery tool I own now.
Bought the Greenworks 60v 16" saw from TSC..It was on sale for $149.99 regular price was $300.00..It included the battery and charger...On Sunday put it together and it worked great..Took battery about 30 minutes to get fully charged... I cut for about 40 minutes pretty steady and when I stopped I was at 2 bars left... I am happy with it so far, and didn't miss out on pulling the starter rope on my Mcculloch or Homelite...

PJ - hope you have a great first day of work

Have a great day everyone..

Frits, that book is a classic and widely read in schools
But I think the reason it was banned was the theme below:

What is the main message of To Kill a Mockingbird?

The Coexistence of Good and Evil

The most important theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is the book's exploration of the moral nature of human beings—that is, whether people are essentially good or essentially evil.

that issue is a very religious one and gets a lot of folks excited in a hurry if you disagree with them. So we can't talk about it here.

My almost seven years of living in NC was in a town where the blacks and whites are and have been totally segregated. Two separate societies. Same with the Hispanics.
Everyone got along, lot of surface politeness.
Entirely different from where I live now. Though four black males in a car are going to get eyeballed here likely too much as they are in other places.
Police pick up on what's different.

Frits, I think of your beautiful daughter getting snide, ignorant comments. Thankfully you clearly raised strong kids.
Kids desperately need self confidence.
I may get written off as woke by the far right but I'm glad DEIJB is succeeding in education and industry.
But then I was a psychology and black studies minor in college and this young white boy from the all white suburbs and country got quite a wake up call.

I got another wake up call in NC. This world has lots of nice people with very different opinions on race and religion.
Just figure we need to focus on what brings us together, not apart. Like tractors, the love of the land, the love of family and personal friendship.
Drew, it was more than snipe, ignorant remarks. We had those too and they don't bother us. It was more the burning cross on the front lawn and fires started against the walls of the house and the FBI investigations that got to us. But thankfully we are beyond that today

Good morning! 60˚F foggy heading to 70.

Wife woke up with 2 projects for me.
1. Clean the washing machine filter. (didn't even know it had a filter)
2. fill pits/refurbish/polish/seal granite kitchen countertops. (never done this before)

Number one is done. Now I need to figure out how to do #2 - anyone refinished countertops, either DIY or hired?

Glad you found a good one at a good price. I had my EGO battery chainsaw in the amazon cart ready to check out but then I made a mistake. I went to the garage to see If my Husqvarna chainsaw would start one last time. It fired up after two pulls so the order was not sent. As long as it stays self healing I'll keep it.
