To be clear, My review of the Mission BBQ Prime Rib that I had on the way home was limited to that one menu item, overall their food is excellent, and definitely the best BBQ you will get in a chain. Their brisket is consistently as good as you will

we quickly arranged ourselves in a “compromising position” on their sofa. When they looked through the widow, they were hesitant to come in, and we all had a good laugh when they did.
.

My thoughts on mission BBQ also. I’ve talked to one of the founders more than once. He used to hang out in the Columbia MD restaurant a good bit. Their office is next to the Glen Burnie restaurant, the original. I’ve seen him help clear tables if that was needed. One of those guys that no job is too low for him to do.

That was funny.

Good morning.

41F and cloudy @ 12:15, only heading up to 42F for today's high.

Fedex just dropped off some sweatshirts The Woman had ordered from Dick's.

Got all of Mom and Dad's old checks in that one box disposed of yesterday, also well into the 2008 box of our records. Probably another 4 boxes down there of our old records I still have to go through ... time consuming ... :(

Some more work on tanks.

Got shelving on south wall unloaded, Woman worked on vacuuming the stuff that came off of it and stowing it over in the family room. Also further clean up there + other clean up back in the utility room.

Started unbolting the shelving on the south wall from the section that runs up the east wall. Didn't realize it was all one piece, going to try and move it in sections so it doesn't have be taken completely apart.

Got a good look at the sill plate on the south wall, it's pretty bad ... wood is warped up about an inch or better from the top of the concrete and is all discolored from water. Have to research how to replace that, I'm sure actually doing the replacement will be a real treat (not) ... since it will require cribbing to support the wall and floor joists and probably some jacking as well ...

There is a 3/4 inch pvc pipe that functions as the condensate drain from the HVAC that lies on the floor and travels around the periphery of the room over to the floor drain. Pretty sure I do not want to put that behind any walls. May need to cut and shorten two legs to accommodate new wall.

Got the last of sanding done on dining room wall.

Woman made peanut butter cookies last night, She was not happy with how they turned out. Didn't seem all that peanuty to either of us but were otherwise good (IMO)

Did not get around to checking hopper feeder, but it must still have something in it as the birds and squirrels were all busy out there this morning.

Amazon orders are "out for delivery" and Menards order was placed and is now ready for pick up.

Agenda for today:

Empty ashes out of wood furnace and get them carted out to the woods.

Get measurement for south wall in family room.

Go over to pole barn and retrieve enough 2" foam board to cover south walls in family and utility rooms.

Maybe get those 2 x 4's moved inside.

Get chop saw moved from garage down to the basement.

Woman is now "not sure" about new light fixture for dining room ... so I need to hold it up against the ceiling for her to have a look at it ...

Refill hopper feeder.

Fix Her email.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday ... (y)

On school book banning an important point is that most kids have access to the internet at an early age. Even if parents monitor closely they would have access via friends iPhones etc. If you think that banning books in school protects kids it probably is not the case. And it also brings up that family discussions and values is the one thing that helps kids grow up and have good judgement and values. To Kill A Mockingbird book and movie with Gregory Peck was banned because of racial issues that school boards wanted to suppress

What is the big issue in To Kill a Mockingbird?

In the novel, 'To kill a mockingbird', Harper Lee conveys the theme of racism and social inequality by setting up the story in Maycomb, a small community in Alabama, the U.S back in 1930s. Lee presents some of the social issues of 1930s such as segregation and poverty in the novel.

I have returned to the land of the living. Things seem settled.
with rumblings

they say your body talks to you. I decided to be intelligent and chucked the rest of the too hot chicken in the trash. Just in case...

cold drizzly day

This mornin's low was 24°, last day going up into the 50's.... Tomorrow will be cold and windy with gusts to 55 mph. Not looking forward to it! There is a chance of a brief shower or snow squall when the storm system moves across.

Drew, sorry to hear about the bathroom exploits. Hope it is just a food irritation and you get over it quickly.

Mostly, I think that was the first time (that I remember) that you got a wet ride. Hopefully it wasn't too bad.....

Ron, say Happy Birthday to the GD. Cherish the good times!

Thomas, saw a video of a guy that made friends with a fox. The fox would come to him every time he played his banjo..... the first persons we thought of was you and the misses..... then we saw they had a small child and figured it couldn't be you.... Are the foxes still around your homestead this time of year?

BEF, are you officially 'working AT home' as of midnight tonight? Hope so.....

Don, I have a question about your knee replacement. Is there a considerable size difference between both your knees or are they about the same now? Meaning does swelling after walking / working increase or has that subsided?

Headed out to the shop and finish up the 'tamers'. Not too much left to do. Then I want to get a coat of paint on them while the weather is still nice. Need to clean the truck cab and vacuum it out.

Everyone have a great day!

just came in from the shop.... apparently I never hit "post reply" ---- this has been sitting on the screen for a few hours.....

1st coat of paint on the 'tamers'. Had to use red, no black left on the shelf. I think it might be better in red .... I can foresee my shins getting banged up if they were black and blended in with the bucket. Red might save them.

Then I thought about using the bucket for digging.... If they are red, I'll notice them before I try to use it.

Pics will follow shortly....

Good evening !

Today it is a bit warmer, - 6 ... -7 C (20 F)
Took some pictures of forest, all is white / grey. Had to check does iphone is not set on B&W mode.

Yesterday "aunties gathering" went very well. Lot of fun, had nice food. Really sweet meeting

Today some routine errands.
Mega-job was to defrost freezer. While it is so cold outside it is convenient. Take out drawers and just leave them outside. Unplug and enjoy - no stress at all. Just clean and wash those nasty residuals is a bit tough. I do that with steam generator.

While my yard have bare bricks took in 2 crates with firewood. Our meteo agency is out with warning of heavy snowstorm for next 48 hours. We already have like 10 inches of snow, they are saying - by Tuesday will got the same amount on top of that.
Tractor is refilled, car charged, wood near furnace - I dont care, let it snow

Have a nice evening !
Feel better Drew !

Frits, that book is a classic and widely read in schools
But I think the reason it was banned was the theme below:

What is the main message of To Kill a Mockingbird?

The Coexistence of Good and Evil

The most important theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is the book's exploration of the moral nature of human beings—that is, whether people are essentially good or essentially evil.

that issue is a very religious one and gets a lot of folks excited in a hurry if you disagree with them. So we can't talk about it here.

My almost seven years of living in NC was in a town where the blacks and whites are and have been totally segregated. Two separate societies. Same with the Hispanics.
Everyone got along, lot of surface politeness.
Entirely different from where I live now. Though four black males in a car are going to get eyeballed here likely too much as they are in other places.
Police pick up on what's different.

Frits, I think of your beautiful daughter getting snide, ignorant comments. Thankfully you clearly raised strong kids.
Kids desperately need self confidence.
I may get written off as woke by the far right but I'm glad DEIJB is succeeding in education and industry.
But then I was a psychology and black studies minor in college and this young white boy from the all white suburbs and country got quite a wake up call.

I got another wake up call in NC. This world has lots of nice people with very different opinions on race and religion.
Just figure we need to focus on what brings us together, not apart. Like tractors, the love of the land, the love of family and personal friendship.
