good morning all
winter and cold weather settling in, I see some flurries in forecast before Christmas.
having a little snow on Christmas eve is very cool. Lot of rain coming in Thursday and Friday, could be feet of snow North of here.

those early calculators were very neat. Red leds, stiff buttons, indestructible.
Last year I gave my old HP financial calculator to my young nephew; his Dad is a finance guy and can show him how to use it.
I sure have no use for present and future value calcs. Everything is on the internet now anyway.

at some point calculators got dirt cheap, like Harbor Freight specials. Couple bucks a piece.

feel fine this morning, happily. Going to be eating gentle food for awhile.

Ron, what a wonderful neighbor. Particularly with current cost of diesel.
Sounds like the going around of nice deeds.

Every day is an opportunity for kindness.

Fired up the snow blower yesterday, which if you remember was a huge disappointment last year. First the nutty oem 9.8V battery used just for EFI system
conked out, had to get new one under warranty. Looks like one of the old Makita stick batteries. When it works, it sure works. Started instantly and went to level idle.
with the gravel driveway redone, I hope to blow snow this winter without it sounding like a war zone of me sucking up rocks.

I paid to have someone plow it the first year. Big mistake. Took weeks to rake the stones out of lawn. With a perfectly flat driveway and AWD in the car, i don't need to get snow down to nothing, so don't mind leaving a inch there.

Gentlemen, rev up your engines. Bill, Check and others are sending the white stuff down to us.

29 going to 49. Looks like the clouds are gone...lots of moonlight last night and stars now.

Thomas, I have found the same behavior in my kitchen. Hope your chowder was good.

LS, sounds like you are inviting snow to come visit.😁 Nice job on those tamers.

Roasted 3 batches of coffee yesterday, including a "yellow honey" processed one from Costa Rica that I'm excited to try. Need to roast a few more batches before Thursday when it will be timely to deliver some gifts.

Then got a little seat time on the Kubota, bringing up the Christmas tree we cut yesterday. Took some creative work to get it to fit into the house in the usual place. Must have measured and remeasured several times. Looks good...wife happy...tree, maybe not so much. But we'll make it beautiful today.

While measuting the tree, I was disappointed one more time with the performance of my 25 ft tape measure. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for one that is stiff enough to support itself out about 10 feet, the case has a square side/bottom, preferably with a continuation of a ruler on it. Good clip and a lock that works. Inches and feet. I use the metric system in weighing my coffee for roasting and brewing and Celsius for roasting temps, but that's about as far as I go. I have a couple of the free Harbor Freight tapes, but was using a different brand yesterday. I miss those HF freebies. Like reading glasses, I like to stash tapes in the various places I'm likely to need one.

Ken, hope you're feeling well for work today.

My first calculator was a slide rule. Still have it. My first digital calculator did not happened until after I was out of college for 10 years. It is long gone now.
I got my first slide rule, and took a college course on the use of such, my first year out of high school; 1958. I think I still have that slide rule somewhere around here.

How things change with time. Today is our garbage pick up day, so I just sat ours out. Then I decided to drive around the neighborghood to see what the Christmas lights looked like at 5 a.m. It was both disappointing and depressing. I haven't seen so few Christmas lights in many, many years. It reminds me of our great power shortage of 1972 (or maybe it was 1973) when I was commander of our helicopter section and it was weird flying around over Dallas at night and all the lights out on the big buildings downtown. And in flying around over Dallas, I recall seeing Christmas lights in only one place that year.

A slide rule was what I used also during school and together with the log tables is what I used for design of bridges and other projects. Still have it. Using a calculator felt like cheating in the beginning. Not sure anyone knows how to use a slide rule anymore

I do not think I remember how to use mine either.

Good morning all, 30 going to 40 today. Icing is in the forecast for Thursday the day that wife needs to go to the doctor for monthly injections. Trying to avoid going anywhere during bad weather events but hate to reschedule.
Got the Dyson vac set up and mounted on charger on the wall. Very convenient to use but runs out a of battery pretty quickly.
Need to get sprinter filled up with diesel and get it ready to go to the repair shop tomorrow morning.
The pharmacy did not have a substitute med for the one recalled so had to go back to Dr and get another kind
Helo, that is pretty much what I figured with the Russians. Not a good situation. They are being brain washed with misinformation. The people using VPN has access but that is small percentage I am sure

There is a news story breaking on Fusion energy development where hydrogen molecules are worked into energy. Clean and no waste and could be the future of energy but will take decades I am sure to develop.
One of my early contracts was with a Texas utility to forecast their future power demands and the technology to use for future energy generation. We looked at wind, solar, fusion, nuclear, wave action, energy pumped storage and many other technologies. For a young engineer that was a very exciting project
