Should a new tractor come with a full tank of gas?

I can't remember if it came with fuel but when I drove 5 hours to pick it up they did not have the 18 foot trailer ready to come with it. He ended up giving me a 20 foot instead so I could make the trip back. I would say that was better than fuel or a hat !!! They also gave me two shirts.

My Kubota was delivered free with 3/4 tank of fuel, probably because it took 2 trailers to haul all the stuff that came with it, about 40 miles. The Duetz I bought got delivered free from up near the state line, my John Deere delivered by the same driver, lol! My Ford 7710 with duals was 13'4" across the rear, cost me a small fortune to get delivered and required a 2 million dollar liability policy in effect to get it picked up (a company auction). Thought I could just get it driven to the edge of the property and picked it up from there, or down the street a couple miles, but auction company said nope!
I did get the tank and auxiliary tank filled up before it left the property as well as the 55 gallon hydraulic reservoir for the boom mower, and a spare set of flail hammer blades were laying on the floorboard too!
No hats, but since I don't wear them, no big loss!

I’d be pretty upset if my tractor came with gas in it. It did come full of diesel.

Got a full tank of diesel, but nothing else, unless you count the 8 large stickers advertising the dealership that I had to peal off.

Well this is timely. I just bought my first tractor and it was delivered yesterday with an empty fuel tank (no swag either, but that part doesn't really bother me). I told the dealer I was disappointed it was delivered with no fuel in it. He said in his 20+ years experienced he's never heard of a tractor being delivered with fuel in it. I thought that was BS. Seems I was right. This has definitely impacted my opinion of the dealer.

Full tank, dealer shirt (I told him I don't wear hats),two key chain, front weights, rear top/tilt, passenger side step and handle, two extra QD for attachments, and extra pins. All not part of the ordinal order.
Dealer did everything he could to make up for the long delay receiving tractor and loader.

Especially being a Diesel if they delivered an empty tractor I would be really unhappy. knowing what an ordeal running a diesel empty is.

Mine was full but I didn't ask them to fill it. I didn't get nor ask for any swag. I didn't see any Yanmar apparel, hats, mugs, nada in the whole dealership. I don't think they had any, even to buy.

As far as clearing it with the wife, conversation went something like.... I know I don't need a new tractor but I want one. I don't have expensive vehicles, I've worked really hard to get my income to where it is and dang, if I can't even buy a tractor, something is wrong. She uses the tractor and said she likes it much more than the old one BTW.

I don't regret it one bit. It is one of a few things in life I can really enjoy and can pass down to kids/grandkids. Never had a new tractor until this past summer.

Hat and a full tank. Dealer even called to let me know he might be a few minutes late because he had to go to a different station to fill it up. Good dealer = good service.

Full fuel tank.
2 hats from the dealer.
1 month or so later an official owners hat from Massey Ferguson.
My wife loves my tractor, especially last week for garden clean up time. Me on the ground chaining up 8ft tee post bean poles and her sitting in the drivers seat pulling them with the FEL, I thought it was my tractor....

I bought mine used with 175 hours but it did come with a full tank of fuel, and free delivery. I also got two hats; one Kubota hat, the other from the dealer.

I sure hope not, it would ruin the diesel engine

Yep, that's exactly what I did.

I have now 35 years of experience handling her input and reactions, and I don't doubt for a moment that if I involved her before making the purchase, it would have been a world of trouble. Besides, it's not like it did her any harm -- the money's separate, I paid cash, and she generally gets the things she wants. For example, I just bought and a couple weeks ago installed a greenhouse for her exclusive "she shed" use, with electricity and all. You will note the tractor did a great deal of work preparing a 14' by 8' raised level bed on our sloping land, plus gravel and flagstone in this effort, and she liked the tractor throughout the project.

It is what it is.
You did alot of explaining there when you simply could have just said "NUTS" ;)

BTW, I was 16 and worked for a hog farmer one summer. I went to fill up his gas pickup and they had these pumps that looked like old re-purposed gas pumps from a gas station. In fact that is exactly what they were. One of them said gasoline on it, so I gassed up the truck, put about 5 gallons of diesel in his truck (yes diesel).

Started driving down the road and that truck ran like absolute crap, barely ran at all but I got to the hog barns with it. When I told him what happened he asked which pump I used and I told him the one that says gasoline on it. And he said that is a diesel pump, even though it said gasoline on it. He said didn't you smell diesel when you were filling it up and I said yeah but I thought it was just from the other two pumps. I had no experience with diesel at this point in my life.

It fouled his plugs and he had to take it into a mechanic and they did something, not major, but it didn't destroy his truck.

I think gas in a diesel would be a whole other story Yeeeeek!

Putting diesel in a gas engine usually doesn’t do anything besides making it run poorly or not at all. Putting gas in a diesel has more expensive results.

My new Kubota came with a full fuel tank. MORE IMPORTANTLY - it came with a great dealership. They have been my "go to" dealer for over forty years.

Full tank of fuel 2 keys & Free delivery.

I always ask for the Operator and WSM in PDF along with a complete set of filters, and the first 50 hour service included in the purchase price.

I don't remember how much fuel was in the tank, I tend to enjoy the clean shiney new machine while it lasts.

For cars it's been hit and miss. Dealerships used to give free car washes with their service - thats long gone.

When my Kioti was delivered, tank was empty. The guy who delivered it to me was also my salesman since he lives near me. He was not happy, so he drove to their dealership that is 5 miles from my house but sells Kubota and filled up two 5 gallon cans and brought them back to fill my tank. Got extra keys, 2 hats, threw in the floor mat on the tractor as well as the armrests for the seat (which I still don't have, on backorder!). Granted, I asked him what he was going to throw in for free when we were making the deal, not sure he would have done that unless I asked but possibly. I think they also filled the rear tires at no charge, but I know I paid for it in the price of the tractor somehow.
