Good morning!!!!

I wish we could all trust the information we get regarding the real impact of oil and gas, and the proliferation of EVs.
So much money involved, so much disinformation, so many agendas.
for every ugly used up coal mine we have, are we also going to have used up lithium mines in the future?
Are we trading one problem for another?

I spent two years in electric power production, odd little digression in my career path, but great fun. Learned how power was made.
State of art stack scrubbers do a great job on hard coal.
Hydroelectric is the cat's meow if your water doesn't run out like it is in Western US
Nuclear is the only thing that makes sense, find a better fuel to boil water.
That's all you are doing, you are making steam.

I think folks think that as nuclear rods decay they automatically make electricity. Nope, not that easy............

and last but not least, the unloved darlings of the power industry, the peaking units. Almost always kerosene fueled combustion turbines very similar
to small jet engines. Horrible polluters. Usually skirt emissions rules. NJ and NYC have lots of them for the summer time. Some of NYC's peaking units are floating on barges
in a couple different rivers.
Now those units are just like giant versions of our home generators. Really big gens you can walk into...GE and Westinghouse/Pratt & Whitney, mostly GE that I saw. My boss was an engineer who
sold parts into the turbine industry.

several feet to my left is a little wall AC monitor in a receptacle showing me what the voltage is in big letters. In this old cottage original wiring is pretty suspect for carrying the load but
I've been a voltage watcher for a long time. Down around 115 I start thinking about turning things off. Got down to 114-115 yesterday, pretty much flickering at 115. That means more amps getting sucked up, but my understanding is that doesn't actually cost us more. It's the heat in the wiring and connectors I wonder about.

I wonder at what voltage my outside compressor starts getting unhappy at?
I do NOT want to blow that big capacitor. Even though I know Popgadget will come to my rescue, he stocks this kind of stuff.
Unit is only one year old

txdon said, "In Texas there is a 30 day trial period for all hearing aids. You have nothing to loose if they are not substantial better than the ones you have now. If the price is too expensive or you want a 6 month trial period you could check out Costco also to compare."

Thanks for the information, Don, AND this year our health insurance for the first time includes some coverage for hearing aids BUT I'm not currently unhappy with the ones I'm using now AND I still have another pair from the past and they still work, also. I'm sure there are new and better hearing aids, like there's new and better nearly everything else, so I do like to hear about such things in case I should want to change in the future, but not right now.

friend called me from hospital room, feeling much better, still doesn't know what the problem is but he was positive and clear headed.
I think he was pretty close to a heart attack yesterday and then he told me he had afib. Oh boy.
Too stoic, likely knew something was going on but didn't want to complain or upset wife.
sound familiar....
they gave him three bags of blood and he got his color back too.
hope to see him this afternoon after he's been scoped top and bottom.

if you pass a lot of blood, ignoring it is dumb.

Morning all, 84 going up to 99 (hmmm) and sunny.
SIL birthday went well, spent most of the time in the pool as too hot.

Went to bed late and got woken up at 7am by construction crew next door. All of them using power tools at the same time.
I know the neighbors are at their beach house.
Sent them an email, see if they care.

Drew - sorry to hear about your friend, hope he recovers quickly

Great to hear your mom's better Kyle

Got the hornets nest with the tempest powder last night and took a look this morning, boy are they angry, hope the powder starts working, seems to have the whole hive going crazy.

Today I need to change the beetle trap bags, get the bug balls out ( they work great for clearing the deer and horse flys).
Also need to measure and cut some metal grating to put under the pool shed. Should stop the ground hogs from getting in, but hopefully not out.

Be well and stay safe.

going to attend church/Meeting by zoom this morning so i get to loll around here and drink my coffee and no going out into the heat.
I do have to put some clothes on.
Visions of zoom camera falling off monitor top ledge and showing everything to a room full of little old ladies.
I'd never live it down.
shorts and golf shirt will be fine. Bare feet will be my living wildly....

87F and partly cloudy @ 12:30, HI 98F, DP 72F ... heading up to an actual high of around 90F.

Had a quick pop-up shower this morning around 06:00 apparently, LWS reports we've gotten 0.13" since midnight. Good chance thunderstorms will develop later today. Chances of rain are low for Monday and Tuesday.

Will be heading up to the shop here shortly to fire up the AC.

No success in finding that spare hose for the FEL, think I may have used it when another hose failed ... but I'll keep my eyes open ... ;)

I did get the the covering and foam stripped from the original seat pan on the B2910 yesterday. That got hauled to the can at the road along with a couple of bags of trash from the shop.

Probably more straightening and clean up on agenda for today.

Greetings and good morning from SW Colorado!
??? Low temp, wasn't too cool, actually probably warmer than at home. BUT....
it actually rained here twice yesterday afternoon and evening. It is definitely much greener up here.

The drive up was uneventful, very pleasurable, not much traffic except going through Pagosa Springs. That place is a real tourist trap.... lots of breweries, restaurants, and expensive shops. Then throw in all the rafters and tubers going to ride the rapids.

Got settled in, made some burgers/ dogs for dinner on the grill. Stayed up way too late talking.

The son, his new girlfriend, and 2 grandsons coming up today, should be here early afternoon. The 'official' birthday celebration will take place this evening. MIL was excited..... you figure she would be bored with birthdays after 79 previous ones....

I did get a chance on Friday afternoon to temporarily wire the dust collector.... it really does suck! Almost pulled my hand into the shroud.... I was anticipating the pull, but it was really stronger than I expected. Now I have to spend more $$ for larger duct work and fittings. Need to figure out a permanent spot in the shop first before ductwork first.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Worship this morning was good. Another good size crowd at lunch.
This afternoon was paperwork, entering stuff in quicken.
Got trash and recycling out for tomorrow.

Just another day in paradise.
