I stand corrected, but I have never seen a Y-blade (knife) that was not reversible.

I think all Y-blade knives are reversible, but there are other knives that aren’t they typically have a cutting surface that is parallel to the ground.

My Ford 917, Bushhog flail and John Deere flails all use this type of knives. However, they can use Y-blades too.

I think I see the confusion here. Hammer blades come in several different configurations but all are forged. Y-blades are stamped.

I'll speculate that those are patented proprietary blades. Pretty nice. Best of both worlds? A hammer type profile from a stamping. Are they expensive?

Flail Master has them, but not sure on the current price, but less than ten bucks each last time I bought them.

These appear to be the same as the Ford Flail Master at $7.50 ea. Bobcat wants $34 ea. for their forged hammers
