Questions on new to me lenar flail mower

Hello all

Bought a used lenar 69 inch flail mower. I sharpened the Y blades on it. Still doesnt seem to do that great of a job. Often gets tangled up with long green weeds. I noticed lots of flail mowers the blades are hanging from a C chain link. On mine the 2 blades are bolted together on the bolt with bushings on either side.

Im thinking thr cut would be better maybe if they were hanging on a c link putting the blades further out from the rotary drum?

Running it behind a 47hp massey.
