txdon said, "The Discount tire was extremely crowded took an hour wait just to find out they did not have the tires in stock. Too many people are moving to this fastest growing town in America."

Yep, nearly all of my tire purchases for many, many years have been from Discount Tire (since the first one I ever heard of in Dallas). And yes, the ones in Denton and Corinth seem to get busier (and slower) all the time.
2.5 hours wait to get the tires installed. I had lunch next door at Wendy's, the only thing I could find on their menu was the Summer Strawberry Salad without the chicken, bacon, cheese, salad dressing and it still cost an outrageous $9. I spent part of my waiting time reviewing the meal on Wendy's web site.

I had a Wendy burger on way to Ohio. Worst Wendy burger ever, dried out meat on a terrible bun. What happened to hot and juicy? (I know, grease).

Good Morning.
It’s 76 a will have a high just under 90 today with clear skies.

Yesterday the smoker and related tasks kept me busy all day.
Started with making some rub and sauce before prepping the ribs.
IMG_9235.jpg

Then got the fire started in the smoker.
IMG_9238.jpg

After getting the ribs on, I went out to get the wings and get them prepped.

IMG_9240.jpg

Then it’s put them in the fridge until it’s time to load them into the smoker. They’ll only take about 90 minutes compared to 6 hours or so for the ribs.

IMG_9244.jpg

Then while that’s all cooking, go out and pick up some corn, and before you know it, it’s time to eat.

IMG_9245.jpg

Not shown was the steamed broccoli, cole slaw and potato salad (both store bought), which made for a complete meal.

So other than cleaning up afterwards, I didn’t get much done, certainly no string trimming.

Today I’ve got a zoom meeting for the airport authority, and then I’ve got to go get some fence posts for some repairs, and I want to add a couple of gates. And then maybe some trimming.

I’ve been in touch with Drew, and we are working on a plan to add a hitch to the front of his mower. So that project will be in the not too distant future.

60°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 94° today.

Nice pictures, BEF.

That all looks delicious, Paul.

Good morning, gents.

Good morning to all! Low of 58°, going up to 85°. 20% chance of a T-storm.

Drew, sounds like the pictures of the headstones is going to take a while....the cart will surely help.

PopG, the chicken and ribs sure look tasty!

Wng, hope you didn't find the source of the Eau de Parfum !

Mostly, glad you got a nap in. Hopefully another for today!

Don, the city golf courses in Albuquerque use reclaimed and treated water.

BEF, nice pics of the scenery. Funny that dad had to make sure you were cutting to his specs.....

Breezy again this morning, so no RC flight. One of these days.....

Going to get an early start to the mulching.....

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 7:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High near 95F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Had to wipe my chin after reading your last post, Paul. Might have to bring home some ribs today and follow your example.

Got the 3PH stuff off the back of the tractor and the backhoe mounted yesterday. Took less than an hour, and I didn't have to reread the procedure. I did have one anxious moment when the tractor wouldn't start, but noticed that the seat wasn't completely rotated forward. Too many safety interlocks on that thing to keep track of them all.

After lunch I treated myself to a nap, then struggled with the IDME login system at the IRS website. Never did manage to prove I was me, but dug up an old username/password and was able to get in with that. Way too much fuss to pay them more money. Had to consult with tech support at the state tax board, as their system wasn't very friendly, either. All this to avoid penalties for under paid taxes...

I'll be trenching this morning, and grocery shopping this afternoon. That'll probably be it for the day.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

The weather here is warming up. 85F yesterday, 88F today, 92F tomorrow. I'll take it. It is way better than 13F in February. I mowed the farm lane yesterday. It was a nice afternoon but I need to work on drinking more water.

My wife and I got out 4th jab yesterday. My arm is sore. I was tired last evening but that could have been spending the afternoon on the tractor.

I ran down to Baltimore Monday. I pulled into the parking garage. Just on the other side of the ticket machine was a hanging sign Height limit 6'6". Looked pretty low. Fortunately I didn't tear the roof racks off but the antenna did scrape twice. When I got home I measured. The racks are 6' 5 1/2" o_O the antenna is 6' 9"

Did Eric say anything before he disappeared? Has anyone done a search for him?

Robins are circling the blueberry batch like hungry sharks. I have chases 2 out on the inside of the bird net. My wife is out there now seeing if she can tighten it up. Apparently being scared by an angry guy yelling and waving his arms doesn't reduce their desire to eat our berries.

"Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!"
I'm retired I can hardly tell what day it is. Sometimes I'm not even sure what time it is. :giggle:

More mowing today.

Enjoy the Summer.

Chris

Rough decision, smoked ribs and wings or string trim.

Looks great!!

   / Good morning!!!! #152,411
Don, you need to post more plant based pics. The meat based guys are winning the picture wars.:ROFLMAO:

After the terrible Wendy burger, I wished I had gotten a salad instead.

But those ribs makes me want a smoker.

85F and sunny @ 11:15, WU now saying we are heading up to a high of 89F. Heat index is 85F so at least it's not oppressive.

Replanted a pepper and a tomato seedling out of one of the 72 hole seedling trays last night as an experiment to see if they are ready, didn't look like they had much in the way of roots.

Woke up with serious cramping in my left calf this morning. Not fun.

Hopper feeder overdue to be refilled.

Maybe finish mowing down here around the house, also compost/wood lot. Need to check and see if I put the second can of gas in the Cub.

Watering/fertilizing with whats left in the WB. Probably will not refill it today (laundry day)

Also need to finish watering garden and squash/pumpkins in wading pools.

Want to get the other Butterfly Weed planted out back in the flower bed so I can reclaim the (large) pot. Two largest tomato plants probably need repotted at this point, they are maybe 16" (?) tall.

Woman has already been out back weeding.

Schedule some bills online for payment.

First thing will be to head up to shop and turn on AC for working on Kubota later.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Thursday ... (y)

I'm retired I can hardly tell what day it is. Sometimes I'm not even sure what time it is.
In town it's easy to tell the weekend days. Traffic gets congested, there are lines at the stores, and everybody seems in a hurry. That alone keeps me paying attention to what day it is...

Coming back from the farm on Wednesday night had me thinking it was Sunday night.

Dad mowed 2 hrs this morning, said tractor did not overheat. But I’m still worried, he can’t hear. Not sure why he put stop leak in radiator, he thought it was leaking but couldn’t see a leak. I need to flush it and refill next trip.

   / Good morning!!!! #152,415
69°F and 1.02 inches rain.

Sophie got another steroid shot in her eye, still not completely healed which is both encouraging and discouraging. Could see the improvement on the picture but also Doctors concern it is taking so long. Back in another month.

Today is my turn for eye follow up. If my healing is sufficient I expect to be getting a new prescription. If so, I’ll be ordering new glasses.

By the time we run an errand or two it will be mid afternoon before we get back home.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning Everyone, ... time to catch up again

I've had 2 days of trying to resolve kitchen sink drainage issues (tenants), a friend has assisted me. He's the maintenance guy for a local seniors retirement centre, so he is way more qualified than me, and he works for beer. :) Pipes and catchers replaced ($150 so far), the clog persists ... lots of gunk in there. Plunger, drano and time - hoping that that will resolve it. Might need to rent a power drain auger as the clog appears to be down a ways, and not accessible.
While out doing errands in town yesterday, I decided to stop at the Medical Supplies store ... I found a basic Knee Brace that wraps around knee directly (no need to put it on like a sock and pull up). It was $50, so I'm giving it a shot for a week. Seems to be better support for now. I've looked all over town, this was the first one that was not a slip over foot and on type. Much cheaper than a custom built one for $1500.
Maintenance guy wants me to go with him tonight to look at a 1968 GMC pickup that he is interested in. I don't really have the time for a 4 hr road trip, so I am going to adjust my day (critter care needs) to accommodate. This is a handyman friend that I want in my corner as the needs arise :)
Sister In Law (who lives here) wears so much heavily scented AVON products that I cough / gag at times. Her reaction jokingly is that I should stop smoking. I never started :) I don't want to offend her and say that it is the strong scents (she and my wife would both disagree) so, for now it is my problem (uggh)
Weather is good, I should go outside, but Bookkeeping is to be done. COFFEE FIRST
Our Full-Scale Burning Ban starts at 12 noon today, so I have less than 2.5 hrs, OR I wait until after October 15 - it'll wait :)

Buppies - progress is good, hot tub is good, praying that she feels better

daugen - okay, that makes sense, you'll find those parts eventually, and I agree make the most of what you have. prayers that the p-f settles down - not fun

wngsprd - our fuel prices are astronomical ... $2.17 per LITRE, that is about $8.21 U S gallon. Canadian Dollar currently sits at .78 usd, so that is $6.38 per U S gallon comparatively (YIKES). Time for the small car.

txdon - sounds like a busy community, I hope that the new tires work well for you. Interesting photo

RNG - that looks like a bit of work, good luck with that. Stay safe and out of the smoke

PJSprog - prayers continue for safety, all the best as you sort that out, transition to something new and better (?). Sounds like you have a good desirable skill set

I'm still catching up, but I will need to get on with things. Have a good day all.

Drew, nice to take grave pictures. I would suggest mapping all the graves, so you know which picture goes where.
See how many are in findagrave and enter there also.
thanks, we already have it mapped (not geobased/gps) and databased, but not linked with pics. got an update on that today.
Our records stop around 1780. Graves go back much earlier. I mowed five hours there today, pretty worn out, did the oldest section, most graves you can't read the writing so old.

where's the beef? I'm salivating looking at Popgadget's plate of ribs.

RS, while you're at it, schedule a couple of mine too please. :sneaky:

One of my 4G grandfathers came to Ohio via Bucks county PA. William Griffith was born in 1778 in Bucks county PA Moved to Fayette county at age 14 (1792) moved to Ohio around 1816. I don’t have his dad’s name, but since he lived in Fayette co 22 years, good chance he moved there with his family.

I'll look up Griffiths and see how many are here Buckeye.

in aviation when they ask how many people are on board, they say "souls on board"

in our graveyard we have 3,702 souls on board, plus who knows how many undocumented early Indians and settlers.

long hot shower felt good, big cup of coffee, miles to go before I sleep

terrible news from Vancouver Island Canada:
your home town becomes a war zone.
hope the one LEO gets out of ICU ok.
just makes you shake your head.
Bonnie and Clyde still exist I guess.

police deserve the very best protective gear money can buy
not sure they had enough

Thank You for posting this daugen

Terrible news. I had not heard this yet. Sounds like the special team was dealing with another matter when this call came it, caught them shifting gears. 3 officers released, 3 remain in hospital. I grew up on Vancouver Island, I have several friends in Saanich / Victoria.
